During my recent trip to Dublin, Ireland I was blown away with the delicious variety and quality of Irish food offered in Dublin. This lucky city is a true foodie destination. And the first stop stop on your culinary tour should be the 1837 Bar and Brasserie at the Guinness Storehouse.
The 1837 Bar and Brasserie is the Guinness Storehouse’s newest acclaimed restaurant. It is named after the year that the classic Guinness and oyster pairing was born. The restaurant offers a wide variety of small plates, salads, large plates, oysters and desserts. I recommend ordering a variety of items and sharing the dishes at your table. That way you can try as much as possible from their amazing menu.
Traveling with the kids and a beer-loving Dad, too? The 1837 Bar and Brasserie has a small children’s menu (geared more towards an adventurous eater) as well as a full line of Guinness variants. I have to talk first about the brown bread. I dreamed about the Guinness brown bread for weeks after returning home from Dublin. It was the most delicious bread I’ve ever tasted. No meal is complete without dessert. And 1837’s desserts provide the perfect ending, equally as good as their appetizers, main dishes and sides. My favorite was the Guinness Chocolate Mousse. It was decadent and rich and paired perfectly with Guinness Draught. I had a hard time forgetting this delicious dessert.
