I remember visiting my grandparents at the farm when I was a little girl – great memories of my childhood! I loved to climb trees, pet farm animals, or simply take off with my friends. It was a feeling of happiness and freedom I was never able to repeat. My visit to Logothetis Organic Farm in Zakynthos, Greece, brought back these memories.

Normally, I am the one who arranges all my travels but this time was different. My sister and her friends, both traveling from Poland with their grandsons, were in charge. They suggested Logothetis Organic Farm as perfect accommodation for the five of us.

Logothetis Organic Farm – First Impression

I took a close look at the farm’s website. I was impressed. It is well constructed, very informative, and visually pleasing. It became obvious that it was not just a farm but a well-run business.

When I e-mailed the owner with questions, I got my answers almost immediately which is very unusual for Zakynthos. He helped a lot not only with questions related to his farm but the island in general.

About the Owners 

In 1997, Angela and Dionysis Logothetis returned to the farm which belonged to the family for more than three centuries. They began on the top of the ruins of the old farmhouses to build houses with respect to their surroundings, their history, and nature. Environmentally conscious, they applied the principles of organic farming in cultivation procedures to create pure organic products.

I did not have a chance to meet Angela, but I talked to Dionysis and his teenage son. They both speak very good English and are very easy to talk to. They showed me around, including their beautiful traditional house.

I learned that Dionysis has a degree in economics. No wonder he knows how to run a successful business. He recently expanded his operations to include a car rental company.

Logothetis Organic Farm – Before You Go

Getting to the farm 

Do not hesitate to contact Dionysis. He can arrange for a great house and car rental package for you. As an alternative, major car rental companies are represented on the island. Taxis are easily available and cost around 30 Euros from the airport.

Finding the farm is relatively easy, but keep in mind that getting lost in Zakynthos is rather common. Get used to it and enjoy it. You will discover beautiful places!

Location

Zakynthos is a world known destination for its great climate and spectacular beaches. It is a small island so all its major attraction are easy to reach. The farm is 1 kilometer from Gerakas beach, the protected nesting grounds of the loggerhead turtle Caretta-Caretta.

You will feel safe and secluded at the farm, but stores and restaurants are just a short drive away. A grocery store and a bakery are within walking distance.

There are a lot of activities available in Zakynthos. Sunbathing, water sports, boat tours, even a water park are nearby. I recommend exploring the island by car simply driving around. Everywhere you go, you will find great scenery, charming taverns, and beautiful beaches.

Views

Logothetis Organic Farm delivers distant views of the incredible blue waters of the Ionian Sea, farmland, and the trees. Our house had a nice size patio overlooking the valley. ( Not all houses offer a sea view!)

Activities on the farm

Kids will love to watch horses, cows, sheep, and goats. Free bikes are available for children and adults. The farm is very large and flat, far from the road. It is safe even for small children. Horse rides are available for a fee.

Houses

Houses are very charming inside and out. They follow the local traditional architecture of the Zakynthian countryside, but they have everything you need in the modern world – including AC and free Wi-Fi.

Produce 

You can buy fresh produce on the farm: eggs, vegetables, fruit, and homemade oils. You can order what you want in the morning and it will be delivered to your unit.
