A favorite way to waste time in our family is watching the boats zip up down the Mighty Mississippi on the Cape Girardeau Riverfront, but of course the most asked question is Momma can we climb aboard?
My kids and I had the opportunity to take a tour of the U.S. Army Corps Engineers MV Mississippi — the largest diesel towboat on the Mississippi as it was docked in downtown Cape Girardeau, MO. Talk about eye opening and exciting, this was like making a little man’s dream come true. We spent time meeting the crew, seeing how they live on the boat, and learning how the boat operates.
The boat returns from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, at the downtown Riverfront in Cape Girardeau.
The tour last about an hour, is perfect for all ages, and is free to the public. For more information contact the Cape Girardeau CVB.

My kids would love that! I’ll have to contact the CVB and learn more about it. Thank you for sharing this.
