Nestled into the Santa Rosa Mountains in Palm Springs’ Coachella Valley, Marriott Renaissance Indian Wells Resort and Spa surrounds guests in comfort while offering an upscale travel experience. From the moment we drove up the palm tree lined drive and were greeted by resort staff we know we were in for a true retreat from real life which is exactly what we were looking for.
After a long school year, which all parents know gets amplified during that last month, we wanted to get away for a mini vacation right after school got out for summer. California is home to many amazing travel destinations, but we wanted the dry heat and sun that Palm Springs offers so we could relax to our fullest by the pool throughout the weekend. The Renaissance Indian Wells Resort and Spa was the perfect place for our family to stay during our trip providing everyone in our family with luxury we crave.
Our Rooms
We stayed in a Parlor Suite with a connecting room because in our true travel fashion, we find the space offered by having two rooms allows everyone in our family to have a more enjoyable trip.
The Parlor itself had a large dining room table which meant we could play board games and enjoy a bit of our normal family traditions. We also grabbed meals at the restaurants on property and took them back to our room to enjoy our family time. With a couch and multiple chairs, we had all of the comforts of home at Renaissance Indian Wells Resort.
Renaissance Indian Wells is nestled in the mountains so many rooms including ours had amazing mountain and golf course views. Believe it or not, the evening temperatures are comfortable in Palm Springs so it was the perfect place to relax on the patio with a cocktail while watching the golfers and listening to the kids play inside.
The Pool
We liked the different sections of pools which gave us new areas to play in. The water feature maintains a slightly cooler temperature making it not only fun but also refreshing for kids and adults. There is a unique sand beach by the pool which offers a really nice feel for families. We rented a cabana in this beach area for Father’s Day and the beach provided a lovely ambiance. The filtration system in the pool design makes it so none of the sand gets in the actual pool so it truly is the best of both worlds.
Families with toddlers will really appreciate this feature as your little ones can build sandcastles and play just like they would at the beach with the safety of a graduated depth. Plus, mom and dad can kick back and stay cool in the provided Tommy Bahama chairs.
For a limited time you can purchase 4-Day/4-Park tickets that allow you to visit each theme park once at an amazing price.
Amenities
There are so many things to do at Renaissance Indian Wells Resort and Spa. Spa Esmeralda is located on the main level of the resort; surrounding you in a luxury chic environment, there are many treatment options and services for everyone. The Fitness Center is loaded with everything you can want for a vacation workout and also offers classes and water aerobics and fitness walks; always nice to see fitness opportunities while traveling that are outside of the norm. Bike rentals are also available as are the tennis courts. The Indian Wells Golf Course surrounds the properties making for amazing views and the distinction of being the only 36-hole golf facility with both courses on Golfweek’s Top 20 “Best Courses You Can Play” in California.
Dining
Renaissance Indian Wells offers a variety of dining options which everyone in our family enjoyed. Sirocco Pizza Company is a casual, modern Italian eatery that we fell in love with. Their pizzas are fantastic and we loved finding lighter fare for lunch and having an entirely new menu with full entrees for dinner.
CAVA is located across the way and offers a more local spin on dining with locally farmed salads, fresh seafood, delicious aged steaks, and quite the awesome array of desserts from what we hear. There was so much food to eat that we didn’t make it hear this time, but next time CAVA is a must for us.

If you want a quick snack, some gelato or need to satisfy your Starbuck’s fix in the morning, Cafe Biscotti is the place to go.
Glo Sushi is nestled in a corner and offers a traditional sushi dining experience. If you prefer, you can enjoy sushi, sake, and yummy apps in the lounge out in the open Terrace Level. You can also just order while sitting in the center lounge area and enjoying a cocktail as well. The two times we dined in the larger area by the bar on the Terrace Level we found the service to be slower so make sure you allow extra time in your planning when eating at any of the restaurants here.
And of course, if you cannot pull yourselves away from the pool, you can order poolside as well.
This was our first visit to Marriott Renaissance Indian Wells Resort and Spa but it will certainly not be our last. The kids are already asking to go back and we have even been chatting with friends about doing a family weekend together. Surrounded in the comforts of home with luxury at our fingertips, we cannot wait to go back.
