Read on as Standby Traveling Mom says choosing River Run Village Condominiums is a smart choice for your family.
For ski-in/out or walking distance to the gondola at Keystone, River Run Village Condominiums are a smart choice for families. The condos are made up of several lodge buildings at the base of the mountain and next to the heart of Keystone: River Run Village.
You can’t go wrong no matter which lodge you choose to stay in. All will have spectacular views of either the slopes or the mountains and similar features that offer both comfort and convenience.
What Works for Families at River Run Village Condos:
- Our two-bedroom condo at the Red Hawk Lodge was a short 190-yard walk to the gondola or into the village where all the action is.
- A full-size kitchen with all the utensils, cookware and dinnerware you need saves money on eating out.
- Our condo had a stackable washer and dryer with laundry detergent provided. Therefore, we were able to pack lighter and keep ski/snowboard gear clean.
- Gas fireplace: a necessity for ski trips. Not just for the warmth and ambiance, but for drying out your ski/snowboard gear overnight!
- Heated outdoor pool and two hot tubs with a view of the slopes at the Red Hawk Lodge. The perfect spots to watch the fireworks from on Saturday nights.
- Lodge common area with fireplace, pool table, board games and plenty of lounge seating. Great for multi-family gatherings.
What Doesn’t Work for Families at River Run Village Condominiums:
- No bellman to help with bags.
- No daily maid service. However, trash is removed and fresh towels, toiletries/dish soap, and laundry detergent are replenished every few days.
- No lifeguard on duty at the pool and hot tubs.
River Run Village Condominiums Details
Take a door-to-door shuttle service direct from Denver International Airport to River Run Village Condominiums (90 miles west of DIA). You’ll never need a car. Everything is within walking distance or available by Keystone’s in-resort shuttle. Shopping, restaurants, cafés, bars, a giant fire-pit for roasting marshmallows, ice-skating and even a small market to pick up any items you might have forgotten.
All are right there in River Run Village. Kidtopia Headquarters in Dercum Square in the Village has fun activities for the kids when they tire of the slopes. And, Dercum Square Ice Rink is free with skate rental available.
Have multiple cars or visitors traveling with you? Enjoy the heated underground parking. Parking is free in the Montezuma Lot at the River Run base area. Additionally, take free shuttles to overflow parking lots nearby.
How’s this for convenience? You’ll find red wagons right outside the front door of your lodge to haul kids and ski gear to and from the gondola and around the Village. They’re scattered throughout the Village and parking lots as well.
River Run Village Condominium Quality
Guests will find the furnishings in all the River Run Village Condominiums to be of equally high quality. Rustic and stylish, there are personal touches everywhere to make your stay feel like home. We appreciated the convenience of the first-floor ski locker room. Small details such as a place to hang our keys and passes by the door were welcome as well. And of course, hooks for our ski/snowboard gear and coats.
We liked the split floor plan of our condo, which allows more privacy for Mom and Dad. A large bathroom with double sinks and separate toilet/shower area is always appreciated. Even the second bedroom had a large bathroom and full-size tub shared by the common area.
The beds were super-comfortable with lots of layers of bedding and extra pillows. Just the way we like it.
River Run Village Condominiums Amenities
Unlike many privately owned condos, River Run Village Condominiums feel more like a hotel. Management provides plenty of premium toiletries and there is no skimping on towels, toilet paper and tissues. Staff will replace your towels with fresh ones every few days so you don’t have to worry about washing and reusing. Trash disposal is also taken care of for you.
Towels are available in the fitness center that opens up to the pool area at the Red Hawk Lodge. They aren’t as big or plush as the towels in the room, so we used those instead.
Because the check-in desk is actually located in River Run Village itself, we never encountered any staff during our stay at the Lodge. All areas, including the common area, fitness center, dry sauna and pool are un-staffed. Your only connection to staff during your stay is by phone.
River Run Village Dining
There are no restaurants in the Lodges, though all River Run Village condominiums have full kitchens. All your dining options for breakfast, lunch and dinner are located in River Run Village or a short drive or free shuttle ride away to Lakeside Village and surrounding areas of Keystone. You’ll find every type of dining available in River Run Village, from casual to fine dining. From pizza to fondue at Der Fondue Chessel atop Keystone’s North Peak Mountain, accesible via the River Run Gondola at night.
River Run Village Condominiums Cost
