The Hawaiian islands may not be a new travel experience for our family, but that doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate each and every moment on the islands.  Normally when we travel to Hawaii we enjoy our Disney Vacation Club home property at Disney Resort, Aulani.   Last week though marked the first time our family traveled to Maui with a stay at Wailea Beach Villas Resort.

Since this was our first time to Maui we wanted to do it right, which meant picking one of the best beach resorts on the island. Wailea Beach Villas Resort called to us for many reasons and also just happens to have been chosen as the best resort in Hawaii in 2014 by Conde Nast Readers.

Beach Location: Beverly Hills of Maui

Choosing where to stay when traveling is like buying a home to us. It’s all about location. The Wailea Beach Villas Resort is located on 12-acres of land that’s covered in tropical foliage and waterfalls. The location makes it possible to offer some of the best amenities in the area. Those amenities helped make the Wailea Beach Villas Resort known as “the Beverly Hills of Maui” — which seemed the perfect reason to call this our home away from home.

Views From The Pool

The Wailea Beach Villas Resort has two different pools: beachfront infinity pool and jacuzzi and  children’s pool with waterfall. Both pools are situated so that everyone can enjoy amazing views of the ocean. Vacation was that much more enjoyable for all of us because our penthouse had a clear view of the children’s pool. We knew our children were safe without needing to be right by them.

Fitness When Traveling

Each trip I make every effort to work out (key word here is effort).  It doesn’t always happen, but I love knowing we have facilities to get a good workout in if we want.

Most fitness centers have enough to get by. But at the Wailea Beach Villas, guests enjoy a full, state of the art fitness center.  After I spotted the Hoist weight room and Precor cardio equipment, I  made it a point to get at least one workout in.

We tend to enjoy more outdoor fitness when traveling because, well, we can’t get that in the same way at home.  So we spent most of our time getting fit in the ocean, going for walks along the ocean, snorkeling, and swimming with sea turtles.

Business

Thankfully, we didn’t need to do business while on our vacation this time, but we were so captivated by this resort that we know we will return.  Turns out that doing business in Maui is pretty fabulous at the Wailea Beach Villas. There is a full business center with all of the office equipment you may need and a stunning outdoor office if your business is flexible to allow meetings on the beach.  Our penthouse had a lovely outdoor balcony that was plenty of room for six people as well.

Staying Safe

From the moment we turned into Wailea Beach Villas, we felt at home in what to us what an unknown area.  The gated entrance is manned 24-hours a day and the staff were always active around the resort keeping everyone safe, and most importantly, happy.

Poolside to Beachside

Having service extend from the room to the lobby to the restaurants is great, but having it extend to the beach is amazing. A team of people who are ready to hand you a towel or bring you a drink. This team can be found at the pool, on the beach, and in the cassabella.

Top Rated Wailea Beach Villas Resort

The Wailea Beach Villas Resort has received plenty of praise for more than just their service. The location of the resort helped them receive awards as one of the top beaches in the world. Snorkel, swim, sunbathe, beach chairs and towels set up, take a hike along a trail, find some secluded caves, and take in the views from jagged cliffs.

Shopping and Dining near Wailea Beach Villas

Your guest card gets you more than access to the villas at Wailea Beach Villas Resort. Since there is no dining within the actual resort, we took full advantage of the shopping and dining next door at The Shops at Wailea. We could walk over via the private access from our resort and be there within a couple minutes.  From casual to luxury shopping, we were impressed with all of the stores.

One of our favorite eateries is Whale’s Tale along the ocean.  When you exit the gate by the pool, walk out to the right to find this quaint little place waiting for you with views of the ocean, coffees, bakery items, amazing breakfast sandwiches, and smoothies.  There really are so many things to do on Maui!

Keep The Change

One of the reasons we chose the Wailea Beach Villas Resort was because of the costs. Unlike other resorts in Maui or Hawaii for that matter, Wailea Beach Villas Resort doesn’t charge daily “Resort Fees.” What a travel treat to pay one fee for what you’re getting and nothing else.

Accommodations

This is where Wailea Beach Villas shines even more!  I priced out very popular and well recommended resorts nearby or even next door and was able to get a two bedroom penthouse with a full kitchen, living room, den, and two outdoor spaces for the same price as a traditional hotel room just steps away. There are three bedroom penthouses and four bedroom villas for larger travel parties, too.

Inside the Wailea Beach Villas

There wasn’t one thing we wished for during our stay at Wailea Beach Villas — aside from a longer vacation. Every single thing we needed to live like just we would at home was provided and truly took our travel experience to a luxurious level.

My husband and I basked in having a European kitchen with state of the art appliances and outdoor grill and dining.  We cooked filet mignon one night with roasted vegetables and played board games as a family.  Complete perfection!

Our kids shared a bedroom with two separate beds which had an attached bathroom; this is honestly a key feature for us when traveling.  Everyone is happier when they are able to get a little bit of alone time.

There was also a den with a full pull out couch that closed off with curtains to allow them space during the day if they needed it. The finishings were all lovely and the luxury linens allowed us to relax at the end of the day without a care in the world.
