Just a short flight from Florida, the Bahamas offers 16 breathtaking islands with pristine white-sand beaches, crystal blue waters and colorful art-lined streets. There’s a ton of fun and adventure, from bonefishing to swimming with pigs! The best part is many resorts include everything you need in the price. All you have to do is show up! Here’s our roundup of the 10 best all-inclusive family resorts in the Bahamas for your next getaway.

Only a 45 minute flight from Miami, the Bahamas is an ideal vacation destination for families looking for fun, sun and adventure.

I’ll never forget my first trip to the Bahamas. My breath was immediately taken away by the beautiful scenery, white-sand beaches and mouth watering seafood (the conch salad is to die for). However, I was surprised to find just how much history and unique Bahamian culture the island had.

While no stranger to the fact that the Bahamas was one of the first places that Christopher Columbus discovered, I had no idea just how much pirate history the island had until I visited the Pirates of Nassau museum. And if you think swimming with pigs sounds like something out of a movie, you’ll be surprised to learn that it is actually a thing in the Bahamas!

But perhaps one of the biggest surprises was learning that the Bahamas imports just about all of its food. Therefore, food prices can be quite high. And for a vacationing family, it can throw you over your budget faster than you expect.

Thankfully, there are several all-inclusive family resorts in the Bahamas to choose from that include meals, activities and excursions. Here are 10 of them to consider for your next family vacation:

Small Hope Bay Lodge

If you’re looking for a tranquil and scenic all-inclusive family resort in the Bahamas, the Small Hope Bay Lodge is your answer. Located on Andros Island, this historic and eco-friendly beach resort offers all-inclusive accommodations with ocean views, international cuisine, and a number of outdoor activities for all ages to enjoy.

As a part of the all-inclusive package, families have access to bikes, kayaks and paddleboards to explore the island. Water lovers in the family can take advantage of the scuba and snorkel lessons, or spend the day fishing and diving. Likewise, nature lovers can pass the time on a self-guided nature tour, or just relaxing and enjoying the scenery in one of the many available hammocks.

If your children are anything like my eight-year-old son, they easily get bored and restless when at dinner and waiting for the food to arrive. Small Hope Bay solves that problem. When it’s time to refuel, kids under the age of seven can dine with others their age in the Games Room. There they’ll find a number of supervised activities and games to keep them entertained while the grown-ups enjoy their meals in the main dining area.

When the adults simply need an evening on their own, they can book a complimentary babysitter and enjoy dinner at one of the of the outdoor restaurants, the nightly cocktail hour with a full open bar.

Here’s why Small Hope Bay Lodge is great for families:

  • Complimentary babysitting available for children aged 2-7
  • Kid-friendly menus and special children’s dining with supervised activities and games
  • Free scuba courses for children under 10 to introduce them to surface and underwater swimming with an air supply
