A Complete Guide to the Atlantis Bahamas Aquaventure Water Park

Breeze Leonard Avatar

Aquaventure isn’t just the largest water park in The Bahamas, it’s our family’s hands-down favorite. From the moment we first set foot in its 141 acres of twisting slides, lazy and not-so-lazy rivers, and splash-filled play zones, my kids were hooked. Located at Atlantis Paradise Island, this water park has a way of making every visit unforgettable—whether you’re plunging down heart-pounding slides or drifting along the Rapids River (my personal favorite).

After countless trips back, I’ve learned all the tricks for making the most of your day here. These are my insider tips for enjoying Aquaventure at its best.

Visiting Aquaventure

There are two ways to visit Aquaventure:

  • Atlantis Resort Guests: If you’re staying at Atlantis Paradise Island, full water park access is included in your stay.
  • Day Passes: If you’re staying elsewhere or passing through on a cruise, you can buy a Day Pass. Day pass availability can be limited during busy seasons, so I recommend booking early if you’re planning a day trip.

SheBuysTravel Tip: Aim for weekdays to avoid busy weekends. If you’re after a quieter experience, May or September through early November are ideal times to visit.

SheBuysTravel Tip: Skip the airport stress — Lyft’s On-Time Pickup Promise guarantees your scheduled ride shows up within 10 minutes of your pickup time. If it doesn’t? You’ll get Lyft Cash. You can schedule up to 90 days in advance and even lock in your rate. Use code SBT25 to save 25% off ONE scheduled ride to the airport.

Fun for All Ages: From Tiny Splashers to Thrill Seekers

One of the best parts of Aquaventure is how it caters to every age and adventure level. Whether you’re traveling with toddlers or teens, Atlantis has thoughtfully designed the park so everyone can find something to enjoy. My last visit with my daughters (ages 11, 13, and 15), may have been our best experience yet.

Fun for All Age Groups

  • For the Littlest Visitors: Poseidon Play Zone, one of the newest additions to the park, is a safe area with mini slides, shallow splash zones, and interactive water features. When my kids were younger, they loved exploring this area, and it’s perfect for shade breaks or a quick snack. My youngest even snuck in a nap here during one visit!
  • For Older Kids: The Rapids River brings the right amount of excitement. This isn’t your average river ride — in fact, real rapids and waves keep the ride dynamic without being too intense.
  • For Thrill-Seekers: The park’s iconic slides, like the Leap-of-Faith and the Abyss, offer big drops and unique encounters, like zooming through a shark-filled lagoon or complete darkness. My kids convinced me to try the Leap of Faith once, and while I stuck to one round, they couldn’t get enough of it!

Top Water Rides and Attractions

Knowing the top attractions can help you plan your day. Here are the spots my kids love while I’m locating lounge chairs and getting towels:

  • Rapids River: This mile-long loop features strong waves and rapids, making it an exciting ride that’s perfect for relaxing while still feeling the thrill. We like to grab our tubes early to beat the crowds, especially on weekends or peak times.
  • The Leap-of-Faith: One word—iconic! This nearly vertical slide takes you through a clear tunnel in a shark-filled lagoon. I was a bit hesitant at first, but it’s a must-do and totally worth it.
  • The Challenger Slide: For those with a competitive streak, The Challenger Slide is an absolute hit! This dual racing slide lets two riders slide head-to-head down parallel lanes to see who reaches the bottom first. Not only is it quick and fun, but it’s also one of Aquaventure’s most photogenic slides, perfect for memorable action shots!
  • The Surge: This exciting slide starts at the top level of the 120-foot iconic Power Tower. The tube ride features a camel back drop into a cavern, then quickly twists and turns downwards into the white-water rapids.

Dining Options Inside the Water Park

After a morning of nonstop fun, my kids and I really work up an appetite. Atlantis offers several dining options in Aquaventure, from grab-and-go snacks to sit-down meals.

For families, I’d recommend Shark Bites for burgers, wraps, and kid-friendly meals. They also have refreshing cocktails for grown-ups! When we’re in the mood for something more local, Pisces offers authentic Bahamian quick bites of conch, fish & chips, sandwiches and more. Just remember, outside food isn’t allowed, so plan accordingly.

One of the questions I often get asked about after our yearly trips to Atlantis Bahamas is whether Aquaventure is worth it, and my answer is a big YES! With a mix of thrill and relaxation, it’s a perfect experience for all ages.

We spend our days soaking up the sun by the pools, tackling the slides, and unwinding on the river ride.

Accessibility for Guests with Special Needs

Atlantis does a great job of making sure everyone can enjoy the fun at Aquaventure. There are wheelchair-accessible paths throughout the park, making it easy to navigate and join in on the action. For a little extra privacy, accessible changing areas provide more room to get ready comfortably.

While not all slides are accessible, there are plenty of pool lifts and seating areas that let guests with mobility challenges relax and enjoy the waterpark. The staff is incredibly helpful and can assist with recommendations on the best accessible attractions during your visit.

After several trips, we’ve picked up a few tricks for a smoother experience:

  • What Should Visitors Bring? Essentials include waterproof phone cases (there are amazing photo ops!), towels (they’re available but can run out on busy days), water shoes (some pathways get hot), sunscreen, and maybe a portable fan for those sunny Bahamian afternoons.
  • Are Private Cabanas Available? Yes, private cabanas are available for rent throughout the park. Cabanas come with lounge chairs, a mini-fridge, towels, and refreshments, making the experience a bit more luxurious and stress-free—especially if you’re planning to spend the entire day. These can be reserved in advance through Atlantis’s website or mobile app.
  • Is There an Express Pass for Rides? Yes, and it’s a lifesaver on busy days! The pass fee includes a dedicated host, reserved lounge chairs and skip-the-line access to the Aquaventure rides for up to 6 people. The express pass, which is especially helpful for families with younger kids, must be booked 48 hours in advance.
  • Are There Lifeguards on Every Attraction? Yes, lifeguards are stationed throughout the park, which provides an extra level of comfort. I feel especially secure at Poseidon Play Zone, where my youngest can play safely.
