Lisa Evans
I am a freelance travel journalist, photographer, podcaster, and author whose work is shaped by a lifelong love of the outdoors. Nature often finds its way into my writing and photography—whether I’m exploring parks, gardens, waterfalls, rivers, wildlife, or capturing the quiet beauty of sunrises and sunsets. I’m always searching for the unique qualities of every place I visit so I can share those discoveries with others.
History, culture, and music are central influences in my storytelling, and I have an avid interest in Indigenous cultures. I value learning from the traditions, perspectives, and histories of communities, recognizing the profound impact they have on the regions I explore. Every destination has a story, waiting to be uncovered through its museums, art, music, and the wisdom of everyday people. Learning is a lifelong pursuit for me, and I approach each experience with curiosity and respect. There is an endless world to experience—simple beauty, deep history, and the stories that bind them. That is where my focus continues to grow. I also enjoy writing about my home region, sharing insights so others can discover its character and charm. One of my ongoing projects explores music history along the Mississippi Blues Trail, alongside continued work highlighting the culture and richness of Coastal Mississippi. My book, 100 Things to do in Coastal Mississippi Before You Die, was published by Reedy Press and remains available for purchase. The Journey Jukebox Travel Podcast airs each month on the 3rd #TravelTuesday, at Noon CST. Every place I visit ends up being featured here as well.
