Rachel Cavanaugh is a travel, outdoor and adventure journalist with more than 20 years of experience in news reporting, digital media and storytelling. She began her career covering politics and human interest stories in Costa Rica for an English-language newspaper run by former Reuters journalists, an experience that sparked a lifelong passion for reporting on place, culture and the people who shape them. Today her work focuses on outdoor exploration, experiential travel and destination storytelling, with a particular interest in kitesurfing, snowboarding, road-tripping, RV life, kayaking, water sports and adventure destinations. Her bylines have appeared in outlets including The Independent, Outdoor Life, Men’s Journal, MSN, GearJunkie, The Hollywood Reporter, Digital Trends, Travel Oregon, Portland Mercury, and others. Based in the Pacific Northwest, Rachel splits her time between the mountains of Oregon and the beaches of Baja, where she lives part-time in an RV and spends her days kiteboarding, exploring new destinations and chasing the next good story.
