The highly anticipated new land–Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has opened at the Walt Disney World theme park in Orlando, Florida. 9 Tips for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney World

The new Star Wars Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is finally open and there are so many exciting things happening there! I recently took a momcation to experience this land for myself.  Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World is identical to the Star Wars Land at Disneyland. Located near Toy Story Land there are two entries into Galaxy’s Edge that will transport you to the Planet Batuu. Get ready to join forces with the First Order or will you support the Resistance? Either way we have a list of things you must check out during your visit!

1. Build a Droid

You’re going to want to take back a BB souvenir because how often is it that you get to visit another galaxy far, far away? The two most talked about souvenirs are the Droids you can build yourself and the lightsaber building experience.

Put together a Droid just like Luke Skywalker at the Droid Depot. One you arrive at the Droid Depot you will see parts moving on a conveyor belt. You will pick your droid pieces and put them together at the assembly stations. Your droid is completely customizable, you get to decide exactly how your droid will look. But wait, that’s not all! You can control your droid’s personality by swapping out different personality chips. Finally, you’ll power it up and then you’ll have your very own remote-controlled droid.

Cost: $99.99

Reservations: You can book reservations for this experience on your My Disney App and it’s recommended that you do so. They do accept walk-ins, but it’s subject to availability.

SheBuysTravel Tip: Don’t haul these souvenirs all over the park with you. You can have them delivered to your Disney Resort or have it held near the front entrance until you’re ready to leave the park.

2. A Drink That Makes Your Lips Numb

You read that right! Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is full of surprises and one of them is a drink served in Oga’s Cantina that you must try. This is an alcoholic cocktail, so this an experience just for the adults. When visiting Oga’s Cantina, order the Fuzzy Tauntaun. It’s topped with “Buzzz” foam and that’s the part of the drink that will make your lips and mouth feel numb.

3. Purchase a Unique Gift Card

This is one of our most favorite tips for visiting Galaxy’s Edge. This is a fun and unique souvenir that ends up being FREE. Visit the Droid Depot and purchase a Spira Metal gift card. You have to load the card with a minimum of $100, which is the same price as a Droid, so if you’re going to build a Droid, purchase the gift card first and then use it to pay for the Droid you built. The gift card can be used in any of the Disney theme parks; it is NOT limited to purchases made within Galaxy’s Edge. If you’re planning to spend at least $100 in the parks then this souvenir ends up being FREE.

4. Don’t Wait in Line at the Milk Stand

Disney has been promoting their My Disney Experience App and the convenience to use mobile ordering to avoid food lines. The Milk Stand (where you can get the blue milk or green milk) is accepting mobile ordering. The lines for this popular drink can get pretty long but you won’t have to worry about that. Just use the app!

5. Stay on Property for Early Entry Hours

If you’re hoping to avoid crowds during your visit, then you’re going to want to stay on property so that you can take advantage of the Early Entry Hours that are offered to Walt Disney World Resort guests.

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is the newest Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Visiting Batuu takes a bit of planning, so be sure to check out these tips for visiting Star Wars Land at Disney World. #TMOM #Disney #DisneyWorld #StarWars #GalaxysEdge #DisneyTips | SheBuysTravel | Family Travel | Travel with Kids | Florida | Orlando

6. Ride the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run the Right Way

Of course, the highlight when visiting Star Wars land is riding the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. If you are a Star Tours fan, the Millennium Falcon will blow you away! There are some things you need to know before entering the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run hangar on this ride.

Join our Private Disney FB Group for more tips! JOIN HERE

1) There are three different positions on the ride: Pilot, Gunner and Engineer. These positions matter because this ride is interactive and you have a role to play! The Pilot positions are the best ones on the ride. One Pilot controls side to side movements and the other controls up and down movements. The Gunner can choose to put his controls in manual or automatic. If the Gunner chooses automatic, she will still need to hit 1 button (as opposed to many buttons). The engineer will need to hit buttons as well.

Your fellow riders make a difference. During my ride on the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, our pilots did not realize that they could steer the Falcon, so we crashed the whole way through the ride and our gunners never hit their buttons.

2) If you don’t mind flying solo, then jump in the single riders line. We stood in the single rider line and got right into the ride! The only thing to remember is that you will almost always be given the engineer role if you go through the single rider line.

7. Play the Games on Disney’s Play App

If you haven’t downloaded the Disney’s Play App you definitely should. Play games throughout all of the Disney Parks with the app. When you arrive at Galaxy’s Edge, the game becomes the Star Wars: Datapad, which gives you the chance to interact with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on a whole new level!

You can use the app to translate a variety of languages, scan objects all around the spaceport, take on jobs and so much more! You can even join fellow travelers to Planet of Batuu as they support the side they’ve chosen. The only question for you is, will you pledge your loyalty to the First Order or will you support the Resistance?

8. Talk with Cast Members

Embrace your journey through Planet of Batuu and speak to those living on this planet. Did you know that each cast member has his own fictional backstory? You’re missing out if you don’t take some time to visit with a few of them.

There are several ways to get their attention. Use the language and you’re sure to stand out among the crowds. Here are four phases you can try:

1) Instead of “Good day,” say “Bright suns.”

2) Don’t say “Good evening.” Instead, use “Rising moons.”

3) Want to say “Til we meet again”? Say “Til the Spire.”

4) Instead of “Good luck,” say “Good run.”

You’ll want to keep your eye out for the stormtroopers walking around; they’ve been known to interrogate guests of Planet Batuu. You can also find Chewbacca, Rey and Kylo Ren inside the park.

9. Get the PhotoPass Image

If you’ve purchased the Memory Maker and plan on getting your pictures taken by the PhotoPass Cast Members, we highly suggest getting the PhotoPass photos taken inside of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. There is a special Tiny World Magic Shot that you can get which captures the Black Spire Outpost and its surrounding landscape in a single image. It’s a pretty incredible shot that you’re not going to want to miss out on. Get in line early for it because those lines were longer than most food lines!

Additional Tips and Information

Where to Shop: Savi’s Workshop, Toydarian Toymaker, Dok-ondar’s Den of Antiquities, Creature Stall and Black Spire Outfitters (this is where you can purchase a Jedi robe)

Where to Eat: Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, Oga’s Cantina and Ronto Roasters. Don’t forget to try the Kat Saka’s Kettle popcorn.

The Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance ride has opened! The Walt Disney Company has said that Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is their “most ambitious” project yet. I personally loved the ride, it’s definitely the most progressive Disney theme park attraction. The Disney Imagineers have worked hard to create one of the best rides in theme park history!
