The Preacher’s Son
- Why Go: I love it when spaces are recreated. This old church has been renovated into an award-winning restaurant. Surrounded by beautiful stained glass windows, specializing in well-crafted drinks, exceptional food and a relaxed atmosphere.
- Girls Getaway Factor: An unusual setting with a different vibe, creative menu and a non-rushed experience. The food is the win.
- What We Loved: The menu changes seasonally, which keeps it interesting. We asked for a sampling of many things off the menu to share. The vegetables were the star of the show, including the charred carrots and the marinated leeks.

- Why Go: The large food hall inside Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, has a surprisingly healthy menu.
- Girls Getaway Factor: Who doesn’t like dining under a big heart? It’s impossible not to love the views outside the floor to ceiling windows here, where natural light floods the space and brings the outdoors in.
- What We Loved: Generous salads topped with salmon and grilled chicken made for a healthy late lunch.
Ryn
- Why Go: The farm to table concept hosts a tasting menu Thursday through Sunday. Dine in a historic civil war-era stone house in a country setting.
- Girls Getaway Factor: Chef Cooper will do a dining interlude between the 10-course tasting menu to give you a private tour of the gardens behind the home. We saw two deer on the edge of the property while we walked between the fresh herbs and vegetables that are hand-picked fresh daily for the meals.
- What We Loved: Seasonal menu rotates and is never the same twice here. The tasting menu means you are surprised with each course that is thoughtfully explained and timed so you aren’t rushed and can enjoy a full evening.

- Wednesday Free Concerts: The “Mo” presents an On the House concert at their indoor venue. Performers from around the country travel to perform here.
- Outdoor Amphitheater: hosts top musical acts with reasonable ticket prices.

Built in a ravine surrounded by native Ozark Forest, the museum’s design deliberately incorporates and highlights its natural setting.
- What We Loved: This isn’t your normal, stuffy art museum. The mix of art, architecture and natural light in the building mean a surprise around every corner. The Frank Lloyd-Wright House on the grounds is a must see.
Kayaking at Lake Atalanta
- Why Go: Arkansas is known as “The Natural State” and has an abundance of places to be near water.
- Girls Getaway Factor: Local outfitter 37 North transported us from The Compton Hotel to the small non-wake lake in the nearby town of Rogers. Kayaks, a guide, snacks and sunscreen were all provided.
- What We Loved: Being in the sunshine and laughing while viewing turtles and other wildlife was a nice break from dining and shopping.
Walk Downtown Bentonville
- Why Go: Downtown Bentonville has a mix of apparel and housewares shops, The Walmart Museum and several cute coffee shops and bakeries.
- Girls Getaway Factor: A wide variety of retailers spoke to everyone’s style and budget.
- What We Loved: The area is pedestrian and bike friendly. Lots of people walk dogs and most shops are pet-friendly. The square also has a twice-weekly seasonal farmer’s market on Wednesday and Saturday and a First Friday live music concert and vendor fair.
Getting There
Located within 3-5 hours of many major Midwest U.S. cities, Bentonville is an easy weekend road trip or can be accessed from Rogers-Fayetteville Regional Airport. There are multiple non-stop flights from many major U.S. cities.
