Gilded Age Comes Alive at The Breakers in Palm Beach - The Breakers Palm Beach.

Planning a getaway to Florida’s Palm Beach? The Gold Coast is known for its upscale shopping, fine dining, gorgeous Atlantic Ocean beaches and upscale resorts. Where will you stay? It’s really hard to choose because so many of the Palm Beach hotels are award-winning properties with postcard views and fab activities including five-star spas, beach concierge service and destination dining.

You might be familiar with The Breakers. According to SheBuysTravel contributor R.C. Staab, it’s THE Palm Beach hotel, with a pedigree that goes back to 1896 and a guest register of famous names including Vanderbilt, Rockefeller and Roosevelt.

But there are many other Palm Beach resorts the SheBuysTravel team recommends depending on what kind of a Palm Beach trip you’re planning. Here are some of our favorites:

  • Best for a Romantic Getaway: The Brazilian Court Hotel
  • Best Preppy Bachelorette Destination: The Colony Hotel
  • Best Home Away from Home: Marriott Singer Island
  • Best Newly Renovated Family Resort: Tideline Ocean Resort
  • Best Award-Winning Boutique Gem: White Elephant Palm Beach

We profile these properties and several others below. Many are beachfront. Others are located in the heart of downtown within walking distance of the famous shops and restaurants of Palm Beach. We’ve highlighted the hotel amenities to help you find what you’re looking for and provided an approximate price per night based on Spring 2025 dates, exclusive of taxes, fees and other extras.

1. The Breakers

Be one of the upper class – at least for a night – at the Gilded Age hotel Henry Flagler built so his wealthy friends and socialites could escape blustery New York to a palm-filled Florida oasis. As Flagler envisioned it 100 years ago and has remained so until today, The Breakers Palm Beach is the choice of former presidents, modern-day industrialists and billionaire National Football League owners.

The Breakers goes all out for Christmas with festive decorations and activities making it one of SheBuysTravel’s top picks for a holiday getaway.

But it’s also a great family choice because of its amazing beachfront location, Family Entertainment Center, pools aplenty and even a dedicated family restaurant. Meanwhile, adults will enjoy outdoor patios and bars at almost every corner of the building, a health club, spa, tennis and oceanfront golf course. There’s free wifi, free parking and no resort fee.

SheBuysTravel contributor R.C. Staab visited in the fall of 2023. Read his complete review of The Breakers for more info.
