Every year we see wonderful family-owned farms in Kansas that offer pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and other fall fun for families. As the leaves change color and the air begins to cool, local farms are throwing festivals and opening their farms to locals to celebrate the turning of the season. Pumpkin patches, giant slides and hayrides abound – there’s no doubt that Kansas loves this time of year!

Louisburg Cider Mill & Country Store, Louisburg, Kansas
Louisburg Cider Mill are known for their Fall Festivities! While the mill has all the traditional findings a regular pumpkin patch would have, what sets them apart is their cider and apple butter. Their cider making method dates back 2,000 years, and it still produces the best quality cider today! Their fruit butters and preserves are made using the “open kettle” method. Whiles yes, it does take a little longer to make, I promise you … it’s well worth it! Check the website for additional info and a schedule of the live music.

Granny Mae’s Pumpkin Patch, Dorrance, Kansas
I absolutely LOVE the story behind Granny Mae’s Pumpkin Patch.
According to the website, Granny Mae’s Pumpkin Patch was created in honor of the owner’s grandmother, Sara Mae Herber. Granny Mae was a teacher and avid gardener who found inspiration in the changing of the seasons, the beauty of nature, and the innocence and wonderment of childhood. In 1942, the Herber’s purchased a plot of land in rural Russell County to grow crops and a family. Today, that same land grows beautiful pumpkins and wonderful memories for many, many people. The pumpkin patch you visit now is the personification of Granny Mae and the values that defined her life; a legacy of love for people, nature, and life.
At Granny Mae’s Pumpkin Patch, they have created six unique patches – Munchkin Land, SuperFreaks, Land of Giants, Gourd Grove, Full Moon Farm, and the Pumpkin Patch – where they grow pumpkins and gourds in every shape, color, and size imaginable.
Everything grown at the patch is planted by hand and is never treated with herbicides. Because of this, every stage (from picking, painting and carving, to pies) is safer and healthier for your family.
What started with a single patch and a dream to offer pumpkins to friends and neighbors, has become a fall-themed festival shared with thousands of wonderful people from far and wide.
From sing-alongs on the trolley ride through Scarecrow Meadow to roasting peanuts over an open-fire, the beloved fall games and activities so many of us enjoy returning every year to Granny Mae’s Pumpkin Patch.
Don’t miss: anything. Come experience it all and leave with lasting memories! See website for more info!
Pumpkin Paradise, LLC, Sublette, Kansas
Pumpkin Paradise, LLC began in 2002 when the Steve Weidner family decided to expand Steve’s pumpkin-growing hobby into a pick-your-own pumpkin patch and corn maze open to the public. The patch has grown from a half-acre pumpkin patch and a half-acre maze in 2002 to 12 acres of pumpkins and produce and a 4-acre maze in 2016. He spends most of the year researching pumpkin varieties and ordering every type of seed he can find. Now he plants over 200 varieties of pumpkins, gourds, and squash each year!
Open from the last Saturday in September through Halloween. They’re not just selling pumpkins…they’re selling fun! See website for all the attractions and prices.
Don’t miss: the Trebuchet Demo – a medieval weapon that can throw projectiles farther and higher than a traditional catapult. Hang built by Steve!
