Everything You Need to Know About Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland
Whether Star Wars newbies or aficionados, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland is an exciting, immersive experience. Here’s everything you need to know about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland.
Travelingmom Tip: While it’s not necessary to know Star Wars lingo to enjoy Galaxy’s Edge, some familiarity with the basics enhances the experience.
Explore Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland
As the largest single-themed land expansion in Disney history, the 14-acre Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge offers many adventures. Its location in the back of the park is the perfect space to replicate the remote planet of Batuu, home to Black Spire Outpost. There, smugglers, traders and adventurers must avoid clashes with the First Order.
Upon entering, it feels like stepping into a Star Wars production. Typical Disney attention to detail is everywhere, from the architecture, props, and rides to eateries, marketplace and workshops. Storm troopers, Chewbacca, Rey and other Star Wars characters interact with one another and guests.
SheBuysTravel Tip: Have cameras ready because you just might see your favorite intergalactic hero!
For a limited time you can purchase 4-Day/4-Park tickets that allow you to visit each theme park once at an amazing price.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
Much more than a ride, Rise of the Resistance is an innovative, immersive experience that includes you in a Star Wars narrative. At 15 minutes, it’s also one of the longest Disney attractions.
The premise of the story: You are Resistance recruits on a mission to reunite Rey with General Leia Organa at an off-planet location. Along the way, you’ll walk to a briefing station, ride a transport shuttle, march past 50 Stormtroopers, and zip around in First Order Fleet Transports.
Cutting-edge technology includes a new simulator experience that gives you the sensation of falling from space to crash land on Batuu. Trackless ride vehicles have the ability to move in all directions. And life-like animatronics are sometimes hard to distinguish from real humans.

Throughout the adventure, Disney cast members play their roles well as First Order and Resistance troops. So well, that I found myself feeling a bit intimidated and swept up into the drama.
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
Take control of the most famous ship in the galaxy aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Three roles are assigned when you enter – pilot, gunner, and engineer. Each of these positions has a specific job to do during the ride.
SheBuysTravel Tip: Ride Smugglers Run before Rise of the Resistance. Otherwise, it may be anti-climactic after the innovative and thrilling new attraction.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Merchant Shops
Build-your-own lightsaber and shop for one-of-a-kind creatures at Black Spire Outpost. The marketplace is filled with shops including Black Spire Outfitters, Jewels of Bith, Resistance Supply and First Order Cargo.
Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers
Feel the force as you customize your own lightsaber. There are four paths to choose from:
- Peace and Justice. This uses salvaged scraps of fallen Jedi temples and crashed starships in Republic-era lightsaber designs that honor the galaxy’s former guardians.
- Power and Control. Originally forged by warriors from the Dark Side, objects used in this lightsaber style are rumored remnants from the Sith home world and abandoned temples.
- Elemental Nature. These lightsabers use special components born from the Force, such as Brylark trees, Cartusion whale bones or Rancor teeth.
- Protection and Defense. These incorporate hilt materials bearing mysterious motifs and inscriptions that reconnect a lightsaber’s wielder with the ancient wellspring of the Force.
Once you have chosen your path, the Gatherers guide you as you assemble your lightsaber and bring it to life with the power of the kyber crystal. Be forewarned: These specially constructed lightsabers are deemed collectibles and come with a hefty price tag of $199.99 plus tax.
Droid Depot
Make your own astromech droid. Pick droid parts from a conveyor belt to construct a BB-series or R-series unit. Once built, these droids come to life when you place them in the activation station; $99.99 plus tax. The Droid Depot also offers housewares, pre-built droids and apparel for serious droid fans.
Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities
Find a selection of rare items for sale, representing different eras of the Star Wars galaxy. There are also accessories for the lightsabers, including carrier bags and display stands.
Creature Stall
Bina, the proprietor of the Creature Stall has been hard at work to bring these unique critters to her shop. Discover Kowakian Monkey Lizards, Porgs and more at this interesting storefront.
Toydarian Toymaker
Toydarians made their first appearance in “Star Wars: Phantom Menace.” They now have their own shop on the planet of Batuu. Here you’ll find stuffed toys, musical instruments and more, all handcrafted by the Toydarians.
Fuel up in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Disneyland’s most diverse and unique dining choices are in Galaxy’s Edge. Plus, there are an array of dishes to accommodate dietary restrictions.
Oga’s Cantina
Oga’s Cantina is the local hangout where an interesting mix of characters come to pass the time. Share stories of grand adventures over adult beverages such as the spicy Bloody Rancor, the foamy Fuzzy Tauntaun or the fruity Carbon Freeze.
The Milk Stand
Blue and Green milk may not sound tasty, but it is! At $8 per drink, it is a bit pricey for these smoothy-style drinks. In case you don’t know, Luke Skywalker drank green milk after milking a Thala-siren in The Last Jedi.
Both drinks use a plant base that includes rice milk and coconut milk. But Blue Milk has a hint of a tropical flavor while the Green Milk has a citrus floral taste.
Ronto Roasters
Ronto Roasters draws everyone in with the mouthwatering scents of roasting meats. With signature dishes like the Ronto Wrap filled with roasted pork, grilled sausage, peppercorn sauce and tangy slaw wrapped in pita and the Nuna Turkey Jerky, this is the place to eat on Batuu!
Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo
This indoor restaurant offers various options including plant-based dishes. Chef Strono “Cookie” Tuggs serves up creative dishes such as Braised Shaak Roast and Felucian Garden Spread (plant-based meatballs and hummus). There are also specialty non-alcoholic drinks such as the Phattro and Moof Juice.
Kat Saka’s Kettle
Kat Saka’s Kettle is a hidden gem in the Black Spire Outpost where you can find a sweet and spicy kettle corn snack. A grain vendor, Kat Saka’s motto is “pop it together, eat it together.”
How to Save Time with Mobile Ordering in Batuu
Mobile ordering comes in handy in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. It’s available at The Milk Stand, Ronto Roasters and Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo.
To use mobile ordering, install the Disneyland app on your smartphone. Open the app and press the “+” at the bottom, then click “order food.” This will bring up a list of locations available for mobile ordering. Place your order, pay with a credit card, then head to the restaurant to pick up your food.
Enhance your Star Wars experience with the Play Disney Parks App
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is the first land built around the Play Disney Parks app experience. To be fully immersed in Galaxy’s Edge, download the Play Disney app before arriving to Disneyland. Then, once you land on Batuu, your phone will transform into Star Wars: Datapads. The app’s four main functions help you become part of the storytelling.
- Scan the contents of containers and cargo to collect virtual items.
- Interact with droids, door panels and more.
- Listen in on character’s conversations.
- Translate the ancient written Star Wars language.
It’s also possible to play a multiplayer game called “Outpost Control.” There, you must decide which side to chose – Light Side or Dark Side. The game ends when one side successfully hacks the majority of the door panels.
Meet Star Wars Characters in Galaxy’s Edge
Cast members take their roles seriously as Stormtroopers, Chewbacca and other Star Wars characters. There are many opportunities to meet your favorite character when visiting Black Spire Outpost.
- Chewbacca has been spotted outside the Resistance encampment or wandering Black Spire Outpost.
