This resort is seriously stunning — it’s on Wailea Beach (literally steps away from the water), and it’s known as the “Beverly Hills of Maui.” It’s a perfect mix of luxury and that chill island vibe. Whether you’re chasing thrills on waterslides, indulging in incredible Hawaiian food or just lounging by the pool with a cocktail, this place has it all. I’ve been to my fair share of resorts, but this one really stands out.

Walking into the Grand Wailea is like stepping into the most gorgeous Hawaiian dream. The open-concept design lets you see the ocean on one side and lush gardens on the other, and the whole vibe is just so perfect — it’s luxurious but relaxed. The walkways throughout the property take you right to the beach, and there’s even a chapel for weddings or events.

Highlights:

  • Open layout with ocean and garden views from the lobby.
  • Walkways throughout property to access beach
  • Chapel on property for events – open to all

Pools & Waterslides

Alright, let’s talk pools. There are NINE (yes, you read that right) pools here, spread out over six levels. My favorite was the Hibiscus Pool, which is adults-only and has the cutest private cabanas. If you’re traveling with the family, the Wailea Canyon Activity Pool is perfect — there are seven waterslides, a lazy river, waterfalls, caves, and even a Tarzan rope swing! There’s also a swim-up bar, which, let’s be real, is the best part of any vacation.

Hibiscus Pool (adults only):

  • 4,850 square feet with two Jacuzzis.

Wailea Canyon Activity Pool (family-friendly):

  • Features include seven waterslides, six waterfalls, a lazy river, caves, and a sand “baby” beach.
  • Swim-up bar and three Jacuzzis.
  • Tarzan rope swing and thrilling 3-story Lava Tube Slide.

Foodies, this place is a dream. Every meal feels like an experience. At Humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa (yes, I had to practice saying it), you’re right on the beach with ocean views and amazing seafood. Olivine serves up delicious coastal Italian, and at Botero Lounge, you can snack on sushi while surrounded by these huge, gorgeous sculptures. For something a little more low-key, Loulu Market-Café has healthy, handmade meals, and they even have Erewhon products! Seriously, you’ll never go hungry here.

I stayed in an oceanview room and it was honestly so perfect. My private terrace had gorgeous views of the resort and the ocean, and it was the best spot for morning coffee. The room was modern, with a spacious shower, and housekeeping made sure everything was spotless every day. If you want something more luxe, the Napua Suites give you exclusive lounge access with a concierge, and the wellness rooms have super cool things like Therabody massage tools and eucalyptus bedding for the best sleep ever.

    Beach + Boardwalk

One of my favorite things about this resort is how close you are to the beach. Wailea Beach is right there, so you can walk over and catch the sunrise or sunset — the perfect backdrop for a couple of cute photos! Plus, there’s a boardwalk that runs along the coastline, so you can take a stroll with views of the ocean and tropical wildlife. It’s the perfect way to start or end your day.

    Highlights:

    • Wailea Beach:
      • Just steps from the resort with full guest access.
      • Ideal for early-morning sunrises or stunning sunset photos.
    • Wailea Coastal Boardwalk:
      • Scenic path along the coastline with ocean views and tropical wildlife.
      • Great for walking, jogging, or simply enjoying the beauty of Maui.
    • Photo Opportunities:
      • Picture-perfect moments for couples, families, or solo travelers during sunrise or sunset.

The Grand Wailea is the perfect mix of relaxation, luxury, and a little bit of excitement. Whether you’re there with your family and ready to enjoy all the fun pools or want to treat yourself to a wellness experience and top-tier service, this place has you covered. The beachfront location is ideal for sunrises, sunsets, and beach days, and the boardwalk is perfect for a morning jog or just enjoying the views. If you want to unwind, eat amazing food, and enjoy luxury without the stuffy vibe, this is your spot.
