Less than two hours from Fort Lauderdale, I visited Montego Bay following Hurricane Melissa, staying at Princess Grand Jamaica. During my stay, I moved into a Platinum Junior Suite, setting a new benchmark for family accommodations. Spanning 689 air-conditioned square feet with oceanfront Caribbean views, it pairs plush living space with high-end touches like Molton Brown toiletries, daily restocked mini-fridges and complimentary laundry service—an absolute lifesaver for parents.

The Butler Breakdown: Handing Over the Vacation Logistics

While the adults-only side enjoys this signature perk, upgrading to Platinum status on the family side means your butler, Dexter, can arrange equally magical details for your crew—from room service treats to securing the best dinner reservations without the wait. Photo credit: Melody Pittman

I will be the first to admit that before this trip, I wasn’t entirely sure how practical a butler would be for an all-inclusive family vacation. However, seeing how much stress it removes from a parent’s plate completely changed my perspective.

How the Service Generates Value for Families:

  • Say Goodbye to Lines: My butler, Dexter, essentially took over the mental load of the trip. Instead of waiting in reception lines or fighting for dinner slot times on a phone app, I simply sent Dexter a quick WhatsApp text, and it was handled.
  • Tailored Assistance: From coordinating our evening specialty dining reservations and tracking down transportation details to making sure my favorite Coke Zero was always chilled and waiting in the mini-bar, Dexter kept our days running seamlessly.
  • Warm and Approachable: The service never felt stiff, intrusive or awkward. The entire Princess Resorts staff brought an incredibly warm, hospitable energy to every interaction, making us feel genuinely cared for from sunup to sundown without vacation stress. Platinum status also includes 24-hour room service and laundry service.

SheBuysTravel Tip: One of my favorite hidden Platinum perks is receiving a complimentary pass to the spa’s ultra-serene hydrotherapy area, along with a steep discount on standard spa treatments. It is the ultimate way for parents to sneak away for an hour of pure peace while the kids are entertained.

Shared Family Fun and Dining

Beyond the exclusive Platinum spaces, upgrading ensures your family is well-fueled and entertained. The culinary layout at the property is exceptionally diverse, making it incredibly easy to please picky eaters without ever feeling like your meals are getting repetitive.

  • Picky-Eater Approved: Buffets are available for breakfast, lunch and dinner, complete with a dedicated children’s buffet section built at an accessible, kid-friendly height.
  • Diverse Sit-Down Venues: You have full all-inclusive access to Robert’s Flame for classic steakhouse dishes, El Delirio for vibrant Mexican fare, Fusion 360 for Asian-inspired menus, and Jamrock for authentic, flavor-packed Jamaican cuisine.
  • The High-Tech Teen Refuge: While younger kids live at the Wild Princess Aquatic water park, parents traveling with older kids will be blown away by the state-of-the-art virtual reality and gaming lounge. Equipped with cutting-edge VR simulators and racing games (available for an extra fee), it’s a brilliant, modern hangout space designed specifically to keep teens engaged.
  • Late-Night Nightlife for Parents: For the adults in the group, the resort is currently finalizing a massive entertainment complex that will house Jamaica’s very first licensed integrated resort casino—offering a perfect Vegas-style escape for parents once the kids are checked into the supervised evening resort activities.

The Verdict: Is Platinum Worth It for Your Family?

If your travel budget allows for it, the answer is a resounding yes. The value of the Platinum Club at Princess Grand Jamaica isn’t just about the premium spirits or the nicer bathrobes—it’s about purchasing convenience and time. The extra physical space of the suites gives a family room to breathe, while the private pool and beach access shield you from the usual morning rush of resort crowds.

Most importantly, having a butler to manage the scheduling, reservations and off-site excursion coordination (like catamaran cruises or horseback riding) means parents can actually step out of “manager mode” and just enjoy being on vacation. It makes a large, amenity-packed resort feel intimate, personal and entirely effortless.

FAQs

What exactly makes the Platinum Club upgrade worth it for families at Princess Grand Jamaica?

For me, it comes down to two major things: space and sanity. Traveling with a family means you need room to breathe, and the spacious 689-square-foot Platinum suites deliver exactly that. But the real game-changer is having a dedicated butler like Dexter handle all your dinner reservations and logistics via WhatsApp. Instead of waiting in lines or stressing over seating times, you get to actually relax while someone else manages the resort legwork.

Are the swim-out pools in the Platinum suites safe and practical for families with children?

Absolutely, and they quickly became my favorite part of the entire trip! The semi-private infinity-style swim-out pools are located right off your private terrace. For parents, this is the ultimate luxury—you can lounge on your patio with a morning coffee or a quiet evening drink while the kids safely splash right in front of you. It gives you a private pool experience without having to fight for lounge chairs at the main resort pools.

Does Princess Grand Jamaica offer free airport transfers for Platinum guests?

You don’t actually even need to book a Platinum room to get this perk—you just need to stay a minimum of three nights! Princess Hotels & Resorts offers a complimentary round-trip airport transfer between Montego Bay and the resort for any qualifying stay of 3+ nights booked by July 31, 2026. It makes arrival and departure incredibly smooth and eliminates a major extra travel fee for a large family.

Can families use the amenities at the adults-only Princess Senses The Mangrove property next door?

To keep the vibes distinct, the adults-only pools, nightlife and restaurants at Princess Senses The Mangrove are generally off-limits to kids. However, if you are a parent craving a little child-free downtime or a romantic date night, guests staying at Princess Grand Jamaica can purchase day access passes to experience select amenities and exclusive areas over on the Senses side.

Is there a casino at Princess Grand Jamaica, and can kids go inside?

The resort is currently constructing a massive entertainment complex that will house Jamaica’s very first licensed integrated resort casino! Because it will feature Vegas-style gaming, lounges and nightlife, the casino itself will be strictly adults-only. It’s going to be a fantastic nightlife perk for parents once the kids are checked into the supervised evening kids’ club activities, but it will be entirely separate from the main family zones.
