  • Elevated hotel and CityWalk bars serving creative cocktails and polished classics
  • Distinct atmospheres, from elegant rooftop retreats to cozy, fireside lounges

Belly Up to the Bar Universal Orlando

While Butterbeer sips whisk me away into the Wizarding World and meads delight in Berk’s How to Train Your Dragon land, Universal Orlando Resort’s luscious libations fill experiences beyond the theme park turnstiles. As a local and a cocktail lover, several restaurants offer stunning sippers that entice me to belly up to the bar.

Delicious dinners satisfy my craving for visually impressive plates, nuanced flavors and culinary creativity. But those elaborate meals satisfy even more when enjoyed with a special someone. In contrast, a beverage after an exciting day at Universal Orlando Resort allows me to ponder the adventures in a contemplative way.

With so many options, my favorite spots vary from an elegant perch over a sprawling universe to a cozy spot with a firepit view. More importantly, the robust cocktail offerings delight with innovative concoctions and familiar favorites.

From its intricately impressive ceiling to its perch above Epic Universe, I will never turn down a cocktail at Bar Helios. More importantly, its carefully curated cocktail list rivals some of the best bars. Drawing inspiration from the elements, these stunning sippers never fail to satisfy me.

  • Must Try Cocktail : Featuring the bar’s signature spirit, Angel’s Envy Helios Barrel Selection Bourbon, the Athenian Milk Punch calls like a siren song. It is subtle yet complex, the crystal clear cocktail captivates me every time.
  • Vibe: As the sun sets and night comes alive, Bar Helios allows me to dream. Whether it is quiet contemplation at a table for two or roaring laughter at the bar, I always feel revitalized here.
  • Hidden Gem: Florida days can be warm, and the Mount Olympus cocktail is bright, tangy and sweet. Since I love gin, the lemon and lavender cordial combined with the mint feels like a refreshing cool breeze.

Islands Restaurant at Royal Pacific Resort

After a recent reimagining, the classic Islands Dining Room at Loews Royal Pacific Resort transports me to a Pacific paradise without logging the long flight hours. While pungent curries and comforting ramen delight, I find myself ordering two cocktails and lingering a little longer at the table.

  • Must Try Cocktail: Combining Koloa Coconut Rum, Cointreau, fresh lime juice, Alchemist Orgeat and guava nectar, it satisfies my craving for a little sweetness but maintains a hint of intrigue.
  • Vibe: Simple décor choices transform the classic dining room into a welcoming space. Although it is far from a beachside table, I always feel the welcome hospitality every time.
  • Hidden Gem: Pineapple Old Fashioned proves a classic cocktail can become an island escape.

Big Fire at CityWalk

A CityWalk centerpiece, Big Fire reminds me of Midwestern lake houses and cozy, secluded nights. Tucked in the corner, the bustling bar is my favorite spot for a classic whiskey cocktail. Paired with s’mores dessert, I cannot think of a better way to end the day at Universal Orlando Resort.

  • Must Try Cocktail: With its flamboyant presentation, the Smoked Old Fashioned always delivers a satisfying sip. It is my favorite way to start a meal.
  • Vibe: Hitting the right balance between cozy and familiar, I tend to split my time from the bustling bar or the outside fire pit, especially if it is a cooler night.
  • Hidden Gem: Since Big Fire is known for its bourbon and whiskey offerings, the Horse Soldier Bourbon Flight is a must-order.

Flora Taverna at Grand Helios Hotel

While my eyes fixate on the expansive Epic Universe, Flora Taverna offers an idyllic respite from the theme park’s exuberance. Capturing simple, yet organic Mediterranean beauty, the restaurant, just steps from the lobby, feels like a little oasis. Personally, I choose a seat at the bar and let all the chatter turn into white noise.

  • Must Try Cocktail: The restaurant’s signature spritzes capture the Mediterranean vibe. I choose the Gin Basil Spritz because it balances savory and sweet. On a hot day, I find it delightfully refreshing.
  • Vibe: Subtle with a hint of sophistication, Flora Taverna exudes understated elegance. From a couple’s pre-dinner cocktail to girls’ night with nibbles, the space invites everyone to come as they are.
  • Hidden Gem: Since I can never manage to make a superior sour cocktail at home, the Athen’s Sour is a superior sipper due to its pinot grigio cordial.

Bar 17 at Aventura Hotel

Since it opened, Bar 17 has delighted me with its expansive views of the tourist district. The bright, zesty cocktails keep me energized to gaze at the nighttime sky and be swept away by the music.

  • Must Try Cocktail: Stay Tangy is a curious take on a paloma. The soy sauce’s umami note, paired with the ginger syrup, keeps me invigorated with every sip.
  • Vibe: This top-floor space balances energetic moments with a lounge feel. For people who prefer late-night diversions, Bar 17 is a must-try.
  • Hidden Gem: While I know the rule about there’s always a spicy pepper in the bunch, the Shiso Smooth is just the right amount of heat.

Cowfish Delights at City Walk

Even though I always order the Burgerushi, Cowfish’s whimsical cocktails quench my thirst. From fun names to playful combinations, these beverages always make me smile.

  • Must Try Cocktail: The Butta Pecan boozy shake earns my top spot as the most delicious dessert. Definitely a potent potable, the salted caramel, praline and Ole Smoky Butter-Pecan moonshine tastes like my favorite ice cream with a little extra kick.
  • Vibe: Always a favorite with families, the restaurant’s playfulness comes through on every plate. It is perfect for a laid-back, enjoyable night.
  • Hidden Gem: If the sugary shake is overindulgent, Cowfish Cooler balances juicy sweetness with a little earthy matcha powder. It is delightful with both sushi and a burger.
