Sharon Kong-Perring

Sharon is an academic and historian by day, travel journalist by night, writing about cultural experiences, unique hotel stays, and foodie experiences all across the globe. Now based in Los Angeles, Sharon spent the last almost-decade in New England where she worked for history and art museums in their curatorial and collections departments. As an often-solo-female-traveler, Sharon loves sharing that perspective in her writing, and her pieces are regularly featured on TheTravel.com, Islands.com, Yahoo!, MSN, and FlipBoard. Sharon is currently finishing her PhD in cultural studies at Birmingham City University in the United Kingdom, and she has several book chapters and an edited volume slated for publication in 2025-2026. Sharon splits her time between the US, the UK, and South Korea, the area of her research focus.
