Along Toronto’s Front Street, one of the city’s newest urban and commercial spaces draws a commanding architectural presence across several city blocks. The Well, part high-rise, high-luxury development, part chic shopping space offers a mixed-use experience near the city’s downtown. And while the retail directory is still filling out, tucked away among the shiny, new glass doors of The Well’s storefronts, you’ll find Toronto’s best-kept wellness secret: Etiket Boutique & Spa.

While Etiket matches The Well’s sleek modernity, it offers a bit of a warmer touch both in aesthetic and service. Here, you can shop for your favorite, all-natural, earth-friendly brands while also experiencing luxury spa life with a friendly, knowledgeable approach. And the creme de la creme that makes Etiket rise to the top? Its exclusive offerings of Tata Harper Treatments.

If you’re a local Torotonian needing your regular spa fix or a traveler looking for a luxury experience that you literally cannot get in most other places in the world, Etiket Spa is a facility that can do both.  As a solo female traveler with sensitive skin prone to breakouts from all my sleepless red eyes, long bus journeys, and ever changing environments, I was looking for nothing short of a miracle when I booked in my Tata Harper facial during my last trip to Toronto. And as luck – and undoubted skill on my facialist’s part – would have it, Etiket Spa was the answer to my skincare prayers.

The Pre-Treatment Experience

When I landed in Toronto, I was having one of the worst breakouts I’ve ever had in my life. Maybe it was the changing of seasons, maybe it was months of non-stop travel, or perhaps my skin was trying to remind me of my teenage youth. Whatever the root cause, I couldn’t be more eager to head to Etiket Spa’s combo boutique and treatment facility. Located in Toronto’s stylish West End, a few convenient stops away on the street trolley from my hotel, I couldn’t be more relieved at how easy it was to get there in my jetlagged blur.

Vestiges of travel and navigation adrenaline evaporated as soon as I walked through Etiket’s doors. With walls awash in calming beige tones and skincare displays wrapped in warm wooden accents, the reminder to breathe deep and relax was instantaneous. I took a quick lap around the boutique area, taking in the multi-colored potions and lotions, eager to shop after my appointment. Then, I headed to the rear of the shop to find the spa area, a haven of rich emerald green decor with even richer products and treatments.

Etiket Spa’s staff, beginning with check-in, feels like they’re all working with the same united mission in mind, to get you – the client – as effortlessly relaxed as possible. It was all smiles as I approached the spa desk, and with an offer of a glass of purified water, and an easy hand off to my facialist, I strolled into the bright and airy treatment room. I was disarmed, in the best of ways, to enjoy the facial I had ahead.

The Tata Harper Experience and Etiket’s Curated Menu

Etiket’s menu of services is one of the most impressive there is. With a host of targeted treatments from sensitive skin services to peels to acne-focused facials, there is very little that Etiket leaves out of their line up. The spa has also partnered with a number of high-end names in the skin care industry to bring treatments to Toronto with all the luxury and skin benefits that you would expect from those brands. SkinCeuticals, Nuori, and Pai branded treatments all utilize the best of each company’s skincare ranges to address the clients’ needs and wants, but I was most intrigued by Etiket’s Tata Harper services.

An exclusive offering only found at Etiket in Toronto and at its sister spa in Montreal, the Tata Harper menu is, in it of itself, an impressive assemblage of treatments that span different skincare needs. Tata Harper, a New England based brand built on a clean beauty and “green routine” platform, is emblematic of the effortless, cool girl’s natural yet luxurious skin care regimen. Marrying Tata Harper’s products with Etiket’s experiential client-minded service, the result was the healing facial of my skin’s dreams.

A Signature Facial With Tata Harper at Etiket

I opted for the Etiket Signature Facial, a 75-minute treatment that’s customized to address your individual concerns about your skin. At this point, my acne, hyperpigmentation, and scarring had hit a personal record, so my facialist leveraged the best of Tata Harper’s products to refresh my skin. By the end, I was aglow, some of the worst of my acne tackled. And yet, my facialist had handled everything with delicate care and a light touch.

My treatment was simultaneously relaxing as it was educational. My facialist did everything she could to ensure I was enjoying my time of post-travel relaxation, while also answering any and all questions I had about the products she was using, her theories of why my skin was reacting the way it was lately, and what I could do to continue my care at home. She even came to the genius conclusion that perhaps the ever-changing water I was using when I washed my face could be exacerbating my skin issues. Upon her suggestion, I even got a water filter for my home sink, an idea that I will forever be grateful to her for.

The facial was blissfully fragranced, filled with the signature scent of many Tata Harper products (of which I am a total fangirl). The atmosphere was entirely calming. And I was astounded at the level of care and knowledge the staff had.

Education-focused Skincare at Etiket Boutique & Spa

As my soul rejoined my body post-facial, I headed towards the boutique where my facialist awaited to recommend some products for me. Don’t worry; this part wasn’t a pitch to buy scores of expensive products by any means, but a deeply appreciated tutorial of what ingredients could help my skincare in the long run. Looking at both Tata Harper products alongside a bevy of other natural beauty brands, I was pleased with the routine of irritation-free, sensitive skin-focused items we assembled together. I looked around at the glass bottles around me, thinking how anyone seeking those harder-to-find clean brands or niche skincare and fragrances would be spoiled in Etiket’s boutique. It was like retreating to a cave of quiet luxury cosmetics, albeit an elegant one.

Understanding that skincare is a journey, Etiket maintains a profile for each client, chronicling products and services that work with your skin. Meaning, even if I went back a year from my original treatment, Etiket would still have my skincare wants and needs. I’m a creature of loyalty, so as someone with every full intention of making an appointment any time I’m in Toronto, this detail of the spa has me excited. I saw such a difference in my skin and how it healed after my facial, that flying across North America to book another facial is not wildly outside the realm of possibility for this now-skincare junkie. I may, or may not, have a Google alert on for winter flights to The 6 …
