Hilton New York Times Square Review

Hilton New York Times Square stands out for two reasons: its central Midtown location and its unusually spacious rooms. Broadway theaters, Times Square, subways, Grand Central, restaurants and even Target are all close by, making the hotel especially convenient for us because we needed to fit a lot into a short New York stay.

I stayed at the Hilton Times Square with a colleague during a conference. The location made the work trip easy, while the room size gave us far more space than I expected from a Times Square hotel. We utilized the amenities the Hilton had to offer. We had dinner at 42nd & Sky, bought coffee at Lone Acre Market and worked at the lobby tables with a view of Madame Tussaud’s giant hand below.

Why the Hilton New York Times Square Worked for Our Conference Trip

The location made it easy to get to meetings, restaurants and transportation without spending half the trip in a taxi. It’s not a quiet neighborhood hotel; the area is crowded, bright and noisy but that’s New York City!

Entrances are on 41st and 42nd Street. The 42nd Street entrance is easy to miss beside Madame Tussauds and the surrounding signs. Once inside, an elevator leads to an open, airy lobby with skyline views, providing a quieter reprieve from the commotion on the street.

Hilton New York Times Square put us close to:

• Times Square
• Broadway theaters
• Several subway lines
• Bryant Park
• Grand Central Terminal (we walked to the hotel with luggage)
• Restaurants, stores and attractions along 42nd Street

Our Two Queen Room Was Surprisingly Spacious

My colleague and I shared a room on the 41st floor with two queen beds. We had plenty of room to unpack and move around without constantly stepping over luggage.

The room included:

• Two queen beds
• A large TV
• A workspace with plenty of outlets
• A view over 42nd Street
• A shower and bathtub
• Enough open floor space for two adults to share comfortably

Beds and linens were top quality. Air conditioning was quiet and efficient (not the box kind that attaches to a wall). Our bathroom sink had a funky design, with the faucet positioned to the right of the bowl. It worked fine, but the placement stood out as an odd design choice. The shower had plenty of hot water and pressure.

Breakfast and Dinner at 42nd And Sky

We ate at 42nd And Sky, the hotel’s bar and restaurant overlooking the Manhattan skyline.

I ordered the burger with wedge fries, and both were genuinely good. During our stay, the restaurant also offered packages with special pricing, like the burger package with fries and a beer for $30. The wait staff was terrific.

That made eating at the hotel feel practical rather than like an expensive last resort.

42nd And Sky works well for:

• A drink before a Broadway show
• Dinner after a conference
• A casual meal when you do not want to return to the street
• Skyline views without leaving the hotel
• Breakfast buffet

We did not eat breakfast at the buffet but it looked well stocked with lox, waffles, eggs, fruits and yogurt.

Long Acre Market Is Useful for Quick Meals and Coffee

The hotel market sells sandwiches, pastries, specialty coffees, chips, snacks and drinks.

We used our food and beverage credit (thank you Hilton Honors Gold) for coffee, snacks and fruit when we did not have time for a full meal. It was especially convenient in the morning and between conference events.

Target is directly across the street when you need toiletries, bottled water or other basics.

Is the Location Worth It?

Yes, when your plans include Midtown Manhattan if being in the middle of everything is an important part of the trip.

This hotel is good for:

• Conference and business travelers working in Midtown
• Broadway visitors who want to walk to the theater
• Friends sharing a two queen room
• Families who need more space than many Manhattan hotels offer
• First time New York City visitors
• Hilton Honors members using points or elite benefits

Even though there was a lot going on all around the hotel, our room was relatively quiet. Car horns are real in NYC and light sleepers should pack ear plugs.
