Prepare your taste buds for a culinary journey! While traditional ballpark fare of hot dogs and nachos is always a staple, the stadium takes it up a notch with a lineup of local restaurants that celebrate Kansas City’s rich food culture.

Here are just a few highlights you shouldn’t miss:

  • Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que: Famous for their iconic Z-Man sandwiches—sweet and smoky briskets piled high on a bun, topped with crispy onion rings.
  • Baba’s Pantry: Explore delicious Palestinian dishes like fresh hummus and warm pita.

Nearby Hotels: Where to Stay

After a thrilling match, you’ll want a comfortable place to unwind. Kansas City boasts a variety of hotels ranging from budget-friendly lodgings to luxurious stays. Here are three excellent options within a short distance from CPKC Stadium:

Hotel Kansas City

This historic hotel offers a luxurious experience with a unique ambiance that highlights the charm of the city. Located just a short drive from the stadium, it features elegant rooms, a trendy bar and is close to local attractions.

Hotel Savoy Kansas City

An art lover’s dream, this boutique hotel doubles as a contemporary art museum! Each stay here includes access to striking artwork and installations, coupled with comfortable accommodations and eclectic dining options. It’s just a 10-minute drive to the stadium.

The Fontaine

Situated in the Country Club Plaza district, The Fontaine is a bit further away but offers a touch of opulence. With a rooftop pool and luxurious dining options, this hotel provides a scenic view of the city—ideal for those wanting to treat themselves.

SheBuysTravel Tip: When booking hotels, book early and check for matchday packages or special offers that might include transportation options or dining discounts.

Know Before You Go

A Cashless and Convenient Venue

One of the first things to know is that CPKC Stadium is entirely cashless. So, leave the cash at home! To enjoy delicious concessions and buy cool merchandise, come prepared with a credit card, debit card, or a mobile payment app. This makes transactions seamless, allowing you to focus on cheering for your team rather than fumbling for cash.

Pack Smart with the Clear Bag Policy

Getting into the stadium should be as smooth as a well-timed penalty kick! CPKC Stadium has a clear bag policy to quicken entry and enhance security. Make sure to bring only one clear bag, which can’t exceed the dimensions of 12” x 12” x 6”, or opt for a small clutch no larger than 5” x 9.” This simplifies your entrance and gives you more time to soak in the vibrant atmosphere!

Hydration Rule: Bring Your Own Bottle!

Stay hydrated without spending a dime on expensive drinks! You’re allowed to bring in one empty, non-glass water bottle or cup, provided it holds 32 oz. or less. Throughout the stadium, you’ll find free water-filling stations that make it easy to replenish your drink while watching the match. Keep yourself refreshed without any hassle!

Note for Families with Young Kids

Children under two are allowed in free, and the stadium’s official Code of Conduct is built around maintaining a “family-oriented atmosphere,” with staff and security focusing on ensuring a positive experience and safe place for fans of all ages.

One key thing to know, especially for families with very young children, is that the stadium does not have a dedicated playground or kids’ activity area. The experience centers on the match itself.

Also, be aware that a loud CPKC train horn sounds when gates open and after the Current scores a goal – which may scare some children.

Logistics

Parking

Parking at CPKC Stadium can get a bit tricky, especially during high-attendance matches! On-site parking is limited, and it’s best to purchase your parking pass in advance to secure a spot. If you prefer a hassle-free approach, consider taking the KC Streetcar to the City Market. From there, a free matchday shuttle will whisk you directly to the stadium—it’s a fun and easy way to arrive!

SheBuysTravel Tip: Arrive early! Aim for at least 90 minutes to two hours before kickoff to navigate crowds and get through security. Once the match is over, avoiding the traffic rush is a smart choice. Spend 30-45 minutes soaking up the post-match atmosphere; hit the team store for some swag, or simply enjoy the lively surroundings.

Getting There: Transportation Options

  • Driving: If you’re driving to CPKC Stadium, keep in mind that on-site parking is limited. It’s advisable to book your parking pass in advance to ensure you have a spot upon arrival. The stadium is conveniently located, making it accessible via major highways, and the views from nearby roads are fantastic!
  • Public Transit: For a stress-free approach, consider using the Kansas City Streetcar! This reliable service runs through downtown and offers a scenic ride to City Market, where you can easily catch the free matchday shuttle directly to CPKC Stadium. This is not only economical but also environmentally friendly!
  • Rideshare Services: If public transit isn’t your thing, rideshare services like Uber or Lyft are widely available in Kansas City. This can be a convenient option, especially if you’re traveling with friends or family.
  • Biking: If you’re feeling active, consider biking to the stadium! Kansas City has bike lanes and paths leading to the stadium. Plus, there are bike racks securely located near the entrance.
