I finally took a trip with my mom—just us, no kids, no distractions. We sipped, laughed, and soaked up the sun in Temecula, Southern California’s wine country.

Temecula was the right call: easy to get to from Orange County, full of charm, and just luxe enough. We stayed at The Vine House – elegant but relaxed – with big, comfy rooms, private patios and vineyard views. I also toured two other standout B&Bs. If you’re planning a girls’ getaway, these three deserve a spot at the top of your list.

My mom and I stayed at The Vine House, and what I loved most was its blend of boutique luxury and laid-back charm—polished without being pretentious. Set along the De Portola Wine Trail, it pairs Cape Cod-style architecture with a cozy, elegant vibe.

What to expect:

  • Vineyard views from nearly every corner of the property
  • Private patios, fireplaces, and luxe finishes in each suite
  • A gourmet breakfast delivered to your door
  • Personal touches from owner Lacey and Robert Britton
  • Outdoor firepit with oversized adirondack chairs
  • Tennis / pickleball + Bocce ball courts
  • Fresh eggs from the on-site chicken coop
  • A gorgeous bridal suite that is also available for families.
  • Vineyard views from nearly every corner of the property
  • 2-for-1 and free wine tastings at nearby wineries

SheBuysTip: Ask Lacey about the renovation. Building a luxury inn while wrangling three little kids? It’s a story you’ll want to hear—and a big part of what makes staying here feel so special.

This B&B is a true family labor of love. Owners Lacey and Robert Britton were actually married on the property years before they purchased it. They renovated it —while raising three small kids—and wrapped just in time for the start of COVID, which catapulted them into sold out bookings immediately.  Robert makes the breakfast himself each morning (and it’s delicious), while the kids pitch in by setting up trays and doing other little jobs.

With just eight rooms plus a bridal apartment (great for family stays), the experience is intimate and peaceful. Guests must be 12 or older to stay in the main B&B, though the bridal suite is family-friendly for all ages. Rollaway beds are available for a small upcharge.

2. The New Inn – Modern, Sleek, and Perfect for Design Lovers

The New Inn architecture is clean and contemporary, and the suites are sleek with massive glass doors that slide open to your own private outdoor space.

Vibe: Minimalist, upscale, and designed for serious relaxation. If you’re someone who books a hotel for the aesthetics as much as the amenities, this one’s for you.

Best for: Romantic getaways, solo escapes, or anyone who appreciates modern design over rustic charm.

3. Domaine Chardonnay – Boutique Perfection with Designer Touches

I didn’t stay here, but I did tour it—and wow! This is a true boutique B&B with only 3 gorgeous guest rooms that overlook acres of vines.  The owners live on property—she’s a designer, he’s an architect—and their touch is everywhere. This isn’t just a beautiful place to stay; it’s thoughtfully curated down to the last detail.  Anyone with an interest in design will love it here!

Vibe: Elegant, French-country meets California wine country. Think neutral tones, rich textures, and a feeling of calm the second you walk in.

Why stay: You want a truly personalized experience, thoughtful design, and prefer an intimate, high-end stay.

No matter which luxury B&B you choose, pairing your stay with a premium wine tour service like Tour del Vino takes the experience to the next level. My mom and I loved not having to worry about driving around after our tastings—we could just relax, sip, and enjoy the ride.

Our chauffeur (and Tour del Vino’s owner), Sue, was not only incredibly professional, but also a wealth of local insight. She shared stories about the area, insider tips on the wineries, and a thoughtful perspective on the future of Temecula wine country. Sue knows exactly what she’s doing—she started as a black car driver for high-profile celebrities and expanded into wine tours simply because she fell in love with Temecula.

Tour del Vino offers private, customized experiences in luxury vehicles, complete with chilled champagne and access to some of the region’s best-kept secrets. It’s polished, personal, and makes the entire day feel effortless.

SheBuysTip: Ask for a stop at Danza del Sol Winery—Tour del Vino guests can opt for an ATV ride through the vineyards, making your tasting experience even more unforgettable.

Kim Orlando, founder of SheBuysTravel, is a lifelong traveler, an entrepreneur and a sought-after social media and marketing consultant. She has made hundreds of appearances on TV and in digital and print media, sharing advice and tips built on decades of travel experiences. Hailing from the hills of Kentucky and taking her story to New York, Los Angeles, and beyond, Kim built an online platform, the original TravelingMom, that has reached millions of moms and empowered them to explore the world with their families. Today, TravelingMom has evolved into SheBuysTravel. Kim has been featured on “News Nation,” “Today,” “Good Morning America” and on numerous satellite media tours. She has contributed travel guidance to outlets including The Washington Post, Good Housekeeping, Forbes, the Wall Street Journal and more. (Read more about Kim’s media appearances here) Her travel mantra is simple: All travel counts. “You don’t have to go far. Leaving your home is travel,” Kim says. “Wherever you go, even just to the next town over, you can learn something new, see someone and something you haven’t seen before. “It’s good for the brain and good for the soul.” An epiphany in early parenthood started Kim on the journey that led to SheBuysTravel. She’d been a fan of a newsletter for women travelers, and she saw an opportunity. “I thought something like that for moms could be extraordinarily helpful,” she said. “I was traveling for work, traveling for fun, and I was looking for support.” That seed grew into the award-winning website TravelingMom, created as a resource for traveling families of all stripes. Today, TravelingMom has evolved into SheBuysTravel, with an expanded mission to serve women travelers at any stage of life. Millions of readers have visited the site for trip planning help, travel secrets, destination information and gear recommendations. What sets SheBuysTravel’s content apart, Kim says, is its foundation in real-world experience. “Our writers and editors have actually gone out there and done this stuff,” she says. “They’ve booked the flights, tried the tour, tested travel clothing, visited that new hot spot to see if it’s worth the hype. It’s all real.” Memorable Adventures A 2022 tour Kim guided to Bhutan was a particularly standout experience. “Bhutan sounds so exotic, of course,” she said. “But the part where my heart just glows and warms is thinking of the people we met – amazing women doing amazing things in Bhutan.” Their ranks included a former police officer whose ventures into food science helped mitigate food insecurity for residents of Bhutan’s highlands. Top Tips Planning for travel can be daunting, Kim acknowledges. “I always say: Go anyway. No trip is going to be perfect. There’s always going to be something you didn’t expect, something that doesn’t go the way you pictured or planned it. And that something is what’s going to make it a great trip.” And on a practical note: “Go early! Getting to the airport or hitting the road just an hour earlier relieves so much stress.” Kim’s Background Kim, a graduate of the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management, holds degrees in finance and entrepreneurship and has deep experience in developing and running businesses. Her previous work includes developing and running communications workshops and overseeing document management for corporations. SheBuysTravel hits a sweet spot where Kim’s two loves of travel and entrepreneurship meet. “The longer I work in this field, I only want to do more,” she says. “I find the travel world so exciting – not just the trips, but the whole online world of travel. There are still so many opportunities.” The World Awaits “The ‘best trip ever’ probably won’t be the same for an empty-nester or mom of three versus a single woman celebrating a bachelorette party with her friends,” Kim says. “We want to keep it real for traveling women, no matter what their age, life stage, where they came from or where they’re going. “We want to inspire women to travel in any shape or form.” In her free time, Kim enjoys visiting her adult kids, creating trips and traveling with her BFFs to explore the world. Her most recent adventures can be found on InstagramFacebook and LinkedIn.
