Wow is all I can say after the incredible pampering experience I had at the Marriott Wailea Beach Resort’s Olakino Wellness Experience on Maui. The Olakino Wellness Experience is a full day of relaxation and luxury at a private infinity pool with stunning views. I enjoyed a romantic day with my husband but I also saw a group of ladies enjoying a girls’ day.

I grew up worshipping the sun and now have the age spots to prove it! But honestly, this was the best pool and sunbathing experience I’ve ever had. If you’re heading to Maui, don’t miss out on this spot!

I was invited by the Wailea Beach Resort to try the Olakino Wellness Experience at no cost to me. All opinions are my own.

What is the Marriott Wailea Beach Resort’s Olakino Wellness Experience?

The Marriott Wailea Beach Resort’s Olakino Wellness Experience is so over the top with luxury. Olakino is Hawaiian for the health and vitality of the body. This adults only wellness sanctuary provides a full day experience from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A booking includes shaded loungers, daybeds, or a luxury cabana for the day. Don’t book the upgrades, the shaded loungers are the best.

I was pampered with a variety of food, beverages, amenities and activities. The Po’e Mālama (translated as ‘one who takes care’) provides exceptional service throughout the day personalizing the experience. A lounger is $200 for the day or $150 if staying at the Marriott and includes the following:

  • Activities such as yoga flows, Ayurveda tea ceremonies, or aquatic sound baths
  • Nutritious wellness shots
  • Refreshments and a special chef’s treat
  • Po’e Mālama service
  • Comfy loungers and plenty of luxurious towels
  • Saline infinity pool with a waterfall and a hot tub
  • Live music
  • Mini spa treatments
  • Chef curated menu with food and cocktails to purchase
  • Saber celebration
  • Complimentary reef safe sunscreen and cooling lotion

Views for Miles

One of the things I found so relaxing was just taking in the views from the pool and loungers. I lucked out because it was whale season. Every winter from December to May thousands of Humpback whales migrate to Maui. Our Po’e Mālamas for the day, Dana provided everyone with binoculars and I was able to enjoy whale watching from my luxurious lounger. Best whale watching experience ever.

Mini Spa Treatments

The day was chock full of wellness and spa amenities. Upon arrival Dana, the Po’e Mālamas for the day greeted me with a fresh flower lei, a wellness shot of a concentrated green juice, and a cool towel. Midmorning a masseuse arrived and provided everyone with a 10 minute shoulder massage. I was lucky as my husband didn’t want this so I enjoyed double the time. Later in the day, Dana brought out fancy chilled gel eye masks which just added to my relaxation.

Outstanding Food and Beverages

The treats throughout the day were yummy. I loved the surprise when something new like this yummy acai bowl came out. A chef came out late in the afternoon with a food demonstration with fresh ahi tuna, local veggies and samples of local salt. I also ordered from the chef driven menu with fresh, local offerings. I enjoyed a shrimp ceviche, my favorite poolside snack.

The End to a great day

I enjoyed the live music and as the day came to a close, Dana surprised us with one last treat, a delicious ice cream pie. She offered us champagne which we declined but it was a nice touch. Overall an outstanding experience. It was perfect for us as we were checking out of one hotel and into another one that day. The Marriott provided us a safe place to park with all our stuff and a great place to hang out for the day.

Many of the resorts on Maui offer cabanas to rent for the day. Frankly I was underwhelmed at the two resorts I stayed at. They were overpriced with blah amenities and jammed in right next to all the other lounge chairs. For the same price, you can enjoy this indulgent, luxury day instead. I found it well worth the price.

  1. That sounds like an absolutely amazing experience! The Olakino Wellness Experience seems like the perfect blend of luxury and relaxation, especially with those stunning views. It’s great to hear about how you enjoyed it with your husband, but it also sounds like a fantastic spot for a girls’ day out. Definitely adding this to my list for when I visit Maui—thanks for sharing!

    1. When I visited, three ladies enjoyed a girls getaway. I know I would have fun with my friends.
