How To Get To Delray Beach
Delray Beach, located on Florida’s east coast in south Palm Beach County, is known for its two miles of pristine beach on the Atlantic Ocean. It is one of the 39 cities in The Palm Beaches, bordering West Palm Beach and Boynton Beach to the north and Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami to the south. All destinations boast beautiful beaches.
Fly
Two airports are close to Delray Beach–West Palm Beach Airport (PBI) and Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL). Miami International Airport (MIA) serves south Florida, about one hour’s drive south, and is the airport I chose for my Florida trip.
Drive
With a rental car from the airport or your own vehicle, the quickest route to Delray Beach from either north or south is Interstate 95. I-95 is toll-free throughout Florida, except for I-95 Express, which goes into and out of Miami, where they charge a fee.
Amtrak
The Delray Beach station is served by Amtrak, which arrives daily from points north at approximately 5:30 pm. In the morning and afternoon, trains depart, heading north.
Best Time Of Year To Go To Delray Beach
Visit The Palm Beaches between December and April for mild and pleasant weather with temperatures in the mid-70s to low 80s. However, note that there may be occasional colder spells, as I experienced during my visit in February.
South Florida experiences peak tourism season from December to February, during which the region gets crowded. However, if you prefer a quieter and budget-friendly vacation, you can plan your visit during the shoulder months of May and November. It’s worth noting that summers in South Florida can be hot and sultry, bringing the risk of hurricanes.
Final Thoughts
I’ve presented various lodging options grouped by location for ease of planning. While you can choose your accommodations based on how close they are to the activities you’re interested in, Delray Beach is a small community close to many attractions. Your budget will determine your ultimate selection.
