For my first-ever trip to Dublin, I was looking for a hotel located close to the city centre so I could easily see all of the sights. After some digging, I came across a boutique hotel called The Dean on Harcourt Street and decided to spend two nights there during my week-long trip. This small but mighty property has been on my mind since the day I checked out and I’d highly recommend it for those who want a unique experience away from the crowds but close enough to the action.

This trip was partially hosted. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Pros:

  • On-site restaurant and bars
  • Communal working space
  • Convenient location near St Stephen’s Green

Cons:

  • Parking is a bit far at the Stephen’s Green shopping centre

SheBuysTravelTip: You can book the breakfast package as part of your stay and enjoy it between 7 am to 10 am without having to leave the property.

There are several different room types available at The Dean Hotel, including balcony suites, a penthouse suite, a corner large, a large, a cosy bunk, a cosy room and townhouse doubles. I stayed in a cosy room for two people. It was spacious and I appreciated the large desk area.

I loved how modern the room was with the artwork on the walls. The in-room amenities were unlike anything I’ve seen in a hotel room before. Some of the amenities were:

  • Smeg mini fridge
  • Nespresso machine
  • Marshall Amp
  • Samsung Smart TV
  • Fully stocked mini bar area (additional cost)
  • Hairdryer
  • Bathrobes
  • Steamer

When hunger strikes, you can head on up to Sophie’s Rooftop Bar & Restaurant for a bite to eat or drink. It’s highly recommended to make a reservation; however, it’s not required.

I had the whipped goat cheese for an appetizer and the gnochetti as my entree. It was absolutely delicious and you can’t beat the views of the surrounding area as you eat. If you have a hankering for a sweet treat, then you’ll want to order the sticky toffee pudding and coconut ice cream — it is refreshing and delicious.

The Dean Hotel is located about 30 minutes away from the airport by car or can be reached by the Dublin bus, which drops off at the city centre near O’Connell Street.

If you rely on apps such as Uber or Lyft, then you’ll want to be sure to download the Freenow app ahead of your trip. Traditional ridesharing is not allowed in Ireland, but this service will connect you with local cabs and works similarly to the ridesharing process you’re used to.
