You don’t even have to leave the car to enjoy the views, though the short boardwalk walkout into the marsh is worth the stop. Bring binoculars, nature is everywhere here.

The gumbo is spiced perfectly, and they have the most delicious seafood boils. I enjoyed the shrimp boil, and my husband had the crab boil. Yum!

Getting There
Lake Charles is wonderfully easy to reach yet feels a world away once you arrive. Located right off Interstate 10, it’s a quick road trip from Houston or New Orleans, or a short flight into Lake Charles Regional Airport. Once there, everything’s close together, making it simple to explore at your own pace.
