There’s no better way to make memories with your girls than by packing your tote and hitting the high seas for a sun-drenched day filled with gourmet food, freshly prepared painkiller cocktails and lounging on plush ocean floats. After all, the British Virgin Islands are known as the Sailing Capital of the World.

&Beyond Yacht Charters will make you feel at home the moment you hop aboard the sailing catamaran and are handed a glass of bubbly topped with fresh blackberries. At one point during our sail, we were sprawled across the front netting and sipping painkillers. Memories like those last a lifetime.

What’s included:

  • Gourmet breakfast + lunch
  • Coffee slushies, fresh fruit smoothies, cocktails and more
  • Chef-prepared dishes (think grilled fish, seasonal purées)

The vibe:

  • Lounging on ocean floats
  • Snorkeling crystal-clear waters
  • Music, cocktails and nonstop photo ops
  • Pitstops at local hotspots like Willy T, a floating bar and restaurant where fellow boaters gather

Booking &Beyond also makes for a unique accommodation option if you want to extend your yachting experience beyond a day sail.

Planning your own day on the water? Here’s exactly how to book a yacht charter in the British Virgin Islands.

Visit The Baths

Visiting The Baths is a staple experience not to be missed. Located at the southwestern tip of the island, The Baths is considered a geological wonder with its towering granite boulders and majestic hidden sea pools. You can easily spend a full day here exploring, taking dips and relaxing with your girls.

What makes The Baths special:

  • Towering granite boulders (up to 40 feet in diameter)
  • Hidden sea pools and caves
  • Soft white sand beaches
  • Clear, swimmable water

SheBuysTravel Tip: Make sure to wear sturdy sandals or supportive footwear, as it’s a little bit of a hike down to The Baths, and then back up. Flip flops simply won’t cut it!

Water Sports at Bitter End Yacht Club

If your girl group is the adventurous type, you’ll love spending a day at Bitter End Yacht Club for water-sport fun. This island outpost is only accessible by sea, which adds to its charm, and it provides almost perfect sailing conditions year-round.

Kick off your visit by grabbing an iced turmeric coconut latte (my favorite!) or a garden greens smoothie at Bitter End’s Clubhouse before checking out the variety of water activities, including floating yoga, meditation paddling, Hobie cat sailing, reef snorkeling and more. When you’re done, relax on a hammock or under the lineup of tiki beach umbrellas as I did with a good book.

SheBuysTravel Tip: Plan for an early-morning boat transfer from Gun Creek on Virgin Gorda to Bitter End so you get more time to enjoy all the activities and won’t feel rushed through the afternoon.

Sunset Drinks at Saba Rock Resort

After all that water-filled fun, you simply can’t leave the area without stopping by Saba Rock Resort. Take a water taxi over to the neighboring island for sunset sips and views. (The property also offers a complimentary water ferry service to and from Gun Creek.)

The Sunset Bar is the coolest place to be as hues of orange and pink melt into the horizon. Peruse the impressive cocktail lineup, where sips like the BVI Bushwacker (Demerera Rum, Bailey’s, Crème de Cacao, Kahlua, coconut cream) and Jungle Bird (Negrita White Rum, Campari, pineapple juice, freshly squeezed lime juice) take center stage.

Stay for:

  • Sunset views (prime golden hour spot)
  • Live music
  • Pool table + group hangs

Day Trip to Anegada’s Conch Mound

You’ve likely realized by now that, when in the BVI, it’s seamless to take day trips to the surrounding islands. You’ll definitely want to in order to make the most of your time there via the ferry service or a private boat transfer.

One top-recommended excursion is visiting the Anegada Conch Mound, also known as the Conch Burial Ground. It’s one of those cool bucket list sightings you have to see in person and take photos of.

The site consists of thousands of conch shells that have formed a large mound over time. It also serves as evidence that the Arawak people once resided on the island of Anegada thousands of years ago. Fishermen have continued to add to the mound, helping the exquisite shell formation grow in size.

Sugarcane is a beach-chic restaurant situated in Nail Bay. It delivers a relaxing vibe where your group can enjoy poolside drinks and take in stunning ocean views from swing seats. Savor a fresh seafood lunch, complete with homegrown herbs, or dine at Sugarcane in the evening, where the property’s gardens exude the dreamiest glow.

Hog Heaven for BBQ With a View

Hog Heaven is the place for laid-back island vibes, along with scrumptious ribs and pulled pork. Your crew could honestly spend hours here gabbing, enjoying delicious BBQ fare and soaking up the panoramic views of Virgin Gorda’s northern coast. (If there happens to be a passing shower, keep an eye out for a rainbow!)
