The author attended a press trip to explore and dine at the new 1 Hotel Seattle during opening week.

I arrived at the 1 Hotel Seattle a frazzled mess after fighting rush hour traffic. The moment I walked in the door the wellness aesthetic of the lobby completely relaxed me. The fresh scent of the air, the unbelievable amount of plants and plant art, and the nature inspired decor combined to create an oasis in the middle of the city. 1 Hotel Seattle infuses a wellness vibe into every aspect of a stay. This soothing atmosphere creates the perfect ambiance for a couples getaway. My romantic getaways include Porkchop, the Traveling Corgi. 1 Hotel Seattle rose to the challenge with no pet fees and lots of amenities.

Accommodations at 1 Hotel Seattle – Sustainable Luxury

I stayed in a Terrace One Bedroom Suite with its gorgeous views of the city from a large terrace. Definitely a room conducive to romance with thoughtful touches such as luxury linens, a giant soaking tub and 1 Hotels’ signature Bamford Spa bath products. All rooms offer thoughtful touches such as reclaimed wood accents, live plants, and a neutral palette that seems to bring nature into the room. I never wanted to leave my suite with its two full size bathrooms, plush living room, and a dining room. 1 Hotel Seattle doesn’t have any hot tubs but each room has a nice soaking tub.

Highlights

  • 153 Rooms Including 45 Suites
  • Biophilic Design – Is an architectural and design process which connects guests with nature through the use of living plants and natural wood features
  • Lush Fabrics – Plush Egyptian cotton bedding, comfy robes, and heavy blackout drapes to keep out light
  • Amenities – Special filtered water taps, yoga mats, Nespresso machines, mini-bars with healthy snacks
  • Bathrooms – Deep soaking tubs and separate rainfall showers

SheBuysTravel Tip: Make sure to take the room tour. The eco-friendly lighting can be complex and we couldn’t figure out how to turn off one of the lights.

Dining At 1 Hotel Seattle

Discover the essence of Pacific Northwest Cuisine at 1 Hotel Seattle’s two restaurants, La Loba and Drift. Look for hyper-local ingredients and a unique fusion of global culinary traditions from the many cultures prominent in Seattle. Both venues have a nature aesthetic that feels like you are dining in one of Washington’s rainforests.

The hotel offers room service and a lobby farmstand with seasonal fruit that isn’t the prettiest but fresh and healthy. This is just another sustainability feature that saves fruit from going in the trash. Each room also has a mini bar with healthy snacks and treats.

La Loba

I seriously fangirled when meeting James Beard nominated Chef Oscar Amador Edo. La Loba brings new tastes to Seattle with Edo’s Barcelona Pacific Northwest fusion with Asian and Indian influences adding to the mix. Somehow these distinctive cuisines meld together to create a seriously delicious meal. I loved the Gin and Tonic bar cart where botanicals, herbs, etc or blended tableside with gin and Fever Tree Tonic (once you tried it you’ll never use anything else). This is a meal where you want to splurge and try everything. I loved how the shared plates create a fun vibe for date night.

Drift

Nestled just off the lobby, Drift brings a relaxed vibe to the hotel. Guests enjoy sipping coffee and eating breakfast at the lovely outdoor terrace. Grab and go snacks and coffee can be ordered at the counter. Bartenders whip up yummy craft cocktails including the Puget Fog, a visual drink that mimics the look of fog rolling over the Puget Sound.

Most Pet Friendly Hotel in Seattle

Porkchop loved his stay at the 1 Hotel Seattle. The friendly staff gave him lots of attention whenever he walked into the lobby. No pet fee to stay at the hotel. Porkchop enjoyed his pet amenities of a comfortable dog bed, bowls for water and food, and a pet amenity. I loved that he had the run of the hotel except for dining areas and the fitness center. The lobby gift shop offers a variety of pet accessories including felted wool balls. Porkchop had so much fun chasing them around the room. Denny Park just a short walk from the hotel makes a great place for a pet run. Join Porkchop, the Traveling Corgi for a pet friendly tour of the hotel.

I found the entire hotel to be a wellness experience. From the rooms with spa amenities to all the beautiful spaces throughout the building, 1 Hotel Seattle delivers a wellness vibe. I took the time to explore and take in the enormous amount of plants in the hotel. A collection this large requires plant whisperers to care for them. Plant whisperer is actually a full time job at 1 Hotel.
