Hilton Milan combines a convenient location near Milano Centrale with spacious, renovated rooms and an excellent breakfast. My husband and I explored Milan by public transportation and returned to a comfortable hotel each night. Here’s what we loved and what to know before booking.

Hilton Milan turned out to be the kind of home base we needed while visiting our son, who had stepped away from his career to earn a graduate degree at Bocconi University.

My husband and I weren’t in Milan for a sightseeing marathon. We were there to spend time with him, which meant working around his classes and schedule while still having the flexibility to explore on our own.

That made location and comfort more important than being in the middle of the tourist sights. Hilton Milan is about a five-minute walk from Milano Centrale; our room was spacious and felt brand new, breakfast was fantastic, and I felt comfortable walking around the neighborhood on my own. Although, including after dark, like any other city, you need to be alert.

Why Hilton Milan Worked so Well for This Trip

The immediate neighborhood is business-oriented, with office buildings and coffee shops, which suited us.

Corso Buenos Aires is a fantastic shopping street about a 12-minute walk from Hilton Milan. It has all of the main stores you find near the Duomo like H&M, Zara and OVS but only half the crowds.

Our Room at Hilton Milan Was Spacious and New

Our room gave the two of us plenty of space to live in it for a few days. We had two beds, a small round table near the window and enough room to have our suitcases open without creating an obstacle course.

It also felt new. The furnishings, carpet, lighting and bathroom all looked fresh and updated.

The bathroom was lovely with:

Plenty of room for both of us to get ready

Do Not Skip Breakfast at Galvani12

The restaurant was called Pacifico Milano when we stayed, but it has since been renamed Galvani 12 following a renovation of the space. Hilton confirmed that the breakfast is still the same large buffet spread we experienced.

And it was truly impressive. We made a point not to miss it because of the quality and variety:

Fresh fruit
Yogurt
Vegetables
Breads
Made-to-order omelets

The service made it even better. When I asked about green apples and ginger for the juicer, the hostess happily found both for me. My husband loved that he could order from a menu and hit the buffet. The waiters kept my oat milk cappuccino coming and somehow stayed ahead of his multiple espresso shots.

If you’re a Hilton Honors Gold or Diamond member, complimentary breakfast is included at this property. Otherwise, breakfast is €29.50 per person and is not automatically included with a standard room rate. You can also choose a rate specifically labeled Bed and Breakfast or Breakfast Included.

SheBuysTravel Tip: If breakfast matters to you, compare the breakfast-inclusive rate with the room-only rate before booking. This is one hotel where I would pay to have it included.

The Gym, Lobby and Executive Lounge

Hilton Milan has a large gym for a city hotel, with enough equipment to get in a real workout.

The lobby is modern and open, with places to sit and work, and there is a business center as well.

That came in handy because this trip wasn’t completely a vacation. My husband had calls and work to handle, and at one point he needed to print something for our son. Having useful spaces outside the room made that easier.

The hotel also has an Executive Lounge. If your room doesn’t already include access, you can add Executive Lounge access to a standard room for €29.50.

Normally, those would be secondary details for me. On this trip, they mattered. We were mixing family time, work and travel, and having options outside the room made the hotel easier to live in for several days.

Getting Around Milan From the Hilton

We did not rent a car during our stay, even though there is a rental car agency right next door. Because we didn’t need one. Milano Centrale gave us access to all the transportation options.

For the airport, we caught a transfer bus right next to the station. It was comfortable, 10€ each, and a straightforward way to get to Malpensa.
