Before Santa makes his triumphant arrival, Orlando invites everyone to celebrate the season. Although I miss pristine snow and chilly frost, the City Beautiful offers its own magical memories in the Florida sunshine. With a little imagination, I can even believe “snope” could turn into the perfect snowball.

As the theme park capital of the world, Orlando invites me to believe in the holiday spectacle. From plunging into the wintry world of ice sculptures to character-driven seasonal fun, I move from classic celebrations to innovative modern takes.

At the heart of every event, I discover the true celebration of the season. Connection, sentimentality and universality bring merriment to those moments.

1. Gaylord Palms ICE! A Classic Tale with a Side of Playfulness

Plunging into a chilly nine degrees Fahrenheit, the annual Gaylord Palms ICE! I delight in the ultimate winter wonderland. Crafted by master ice carvers from Harbin, China, the fragile, ever-changing sculptures take familiar stories to amaze me year after year.

  • Why Visit: Gaylord Palms brings everyone together. From families wanting a winter wonderland to couples hoping to snuggle in the cold, sentimentality creates an annual tradition. I have yet to see real snow in Florida, but this annual event transports me to the chilly celebration that I love.
  • Other Activities: Package deals include ice tubing, scavenger hunt, Cirque performance and specialty food and beverages.

2. Dr Phillips Center Frontyard Holiday Festival Delights Locals and Visitors

Dr Phillips Center celebrates the Arts for Every Life in everything it does. Starting on December 4, the Frontyard Holiday Festival brings together the local community with programming throughout the day. From lunchtime performances to the nighttime tree lighting, the free event combines sights, sounds, scents and more to create a fully immersive experience.

  • Why Visit: Dr Phillips Center allows people to drop into the celebration as they choose. It feels like a Florida interpretation of classic European holiday markets.
  • Other Activities: Periodically, Dr Phillips will have live concerts and Sunday night family holiday movies.

3. SeaWorld Orlando Celebrates Above and Below the Sea

SeaWorld Orlando’s Christmas Celebration takes me back in time. Instead of commercialism and excess, I remember to just live in the moment, enjoy the indulgence, and embrace the sentimentality of the season. From photos with Bumble to laughing at Clyde and Seymore’s shenanigans, all my worries are replaced by simple holiday joy.

  • Why Visit: From spirited story time to donning a pair of ice skates, SeaWorld Orlando welcomes everyone to make memories. Even though Sesame Street characters are a little juvenile for my family, we happily recall unwrapping that must-have Elmo toy years ago. Whimsical moments, classic traditions and new memories make SeaWorld Christmas Celebration a favorite.
  • Other Activities: SeaWorld Orlando is known for its Sea of Trees. Once the sun fades, the space comes alive with a visually impressive winter wonderland.

4. Universal Orlando Resort Puts the Mischief in the Merriment

From strolling Who-Ville’s Tree Lot to searching for Earl the Squirrel, Universal Orlando Resort always brings the mischief with the merriment. While I happily watch Grinchmas every season, it is the nightly Macy’s Holiday Parade that offers the holiday cheer that fills my heart.

  • Why Visit: Universal Orlando Resort offers a little bit of everything. From kids longing to see Santa to adults who want to reconnect with their favorite memories, it is a family-friendly option that fills an entire day.
  • Other Activities: The culinary team excels with seasonal food and beverage options. From Epic Universe to CityWalk, traditional flavors get thematic transformations that everyone will want to share.

5. Epcot International Festival of the Holidays Celebrates Traditions

While Jollywood Nights captures movie magic and the Magic Kingdom channels Disney classics, Epcot puts heritage on center stage. Before I sit to enjoy a stellar performance of the Candlelight Processional, I prefer to stroll Epcot and reflect on commonalities binding everyone together during the holiday season.

  • Why Visit: Epcot’s annual holiday event proves that the holidays connect people across cultures. As a fan of Epcot’s festivals, food draws my attention. From the annual Cookie Stroll to the various marketplaces throughout the park, I prefer to sip and sample the authentic flavors. Additionally, the specialty foods spark conversation about our family’s food traditions.
  • Other Activities: Many World Showcase performances offer a glimpse of cultural traditions. The little moments break up a busy day. Also, Living with the Land’s holiday overlay is a must.
