More Tips for Staying at the Comfort Suites Paradise Island Hotel
Mention a Bahamas vacation and this Grammie is packing her beach bag. Give me permission to whisk away my 12-year-old grandson for a skip-gen vacation, and he and I both are doing the we-are-going-to-The-Bahamas-dance – and the rest of the grandkids are totally jealous.
Did I mention this Comfort Suites Paradise Island hotel is the best-kept secret in The Bahamas? Well, I am a Grammie and prone to repeating myself, but the Comfort Suites Bahamas is definitely worth a second glance, especially when your budget doesn’t quite cover the cost of staying at The Atlantis.
Read on for 7 budget-friendly reasons to check-in at the Comfort Suites Paradise Island – and take advantage of full use of The Atlantis and Aquaventure facilities.
1. Location of the Comfort Suites Bahamas
The Bahamas offers perhaps the most ideally centrally located Comfort Suites Bahamas in the heart of Paradise Island. Staying at this hotel offers families the perfect opportunity to explore Nassau and the nearby Marina Village, take the kids to the beach (the closest one is Cabbage Beach, just 1/4 mile from the hotel).
Most of all, take advantage of the included amenities of the Atlantis Resort steps away from this hotel.
2. One of the Most Family-Friendly Hotels in Paradise Island
Seriously, the 100% non-smoking Comfort Suites Paradise Island Hotel is perhaps the most family-friendly hotel on the island, especially for budget-minded families. Hotel features include those spacious rooms, all junior suites.
Our junior suite was perfect for us with two double beds, while other junior suites include an option for a king bed. The pillows were fluffy, covers just right-right, and both my grandson and I felt the beds were super comfy, while the room’s air conditioning temps were perfect.
Tucked in the corner near the entrance was a built-in counter with a coffee maker and supplies and small refrigerator underneath. A large dresser centered between the two beds also contained a flat-screen TV.
Comfort Suites Bahamas Offer Space to Spread Out
A divider/partial wall separates the beds from the sitting area. While the wall won’t block out sound or light, it was a perk to have some separation of the living and sitting space. The sitting area contained a sofa bed, coffee table, desk, and chair. Multiple outlets with USB plugs are on the desk. Yes, there is free wifi (password given at check-in), and guests can even print documents directly with high-speed internet access to the lobby’s business center! Sweet!
The bathroom was located at the entrance to the room. Yes, the sink area is small, really only enough space for one person, but the counter space provided plenty of room for both my grandson’s and my toiletries. For those traveling with 4 people, the bathroom might get crowded, but who really stays in your room when a waterpark is nearby? (Asking for a friend…)
SheBuysTravel Tip: Do use the room safe to lock up your valuables. When I’m not in the hotel room, I personally always lock up my passports. If I don’t take my cameras and electronic devices with me, these also get locked up. Got Cash? Lock it away as well since this hotel and the nearby Atlantis are cashless and only accept credit cards.
3. Full Complimentary Access to the Atlantis
While the rooms and the location of the Comfort Suites Paradise Island hotel are amazing, the most impressive amenity of this Nassau hotel is its full access to The Atlantis! And, are you ready for this? This complimentary access is included as a guest of Comfort Suites. Say what?
Say yes, to adventures at Atlantis, The Dig and aquariums, its 141-acre Aquaventure water park, waterslides, 11 swimming pools, dozens of restaurants, bars, lounges, and the Atlantis casino. You can even leave your cash at home (see tip above) because as a Comfort Suites Paradise Island guest you’ll have signing privileges at all Atlantis facilities – just present the hotel guest card given to you at check-in.
SheBuysTravel Tip: Leave the towels in the room. Towels are free of charge with admission at The Atlantis.

Is It Worth It?
If you aren’t a guest at either The Atlantis or Comfort Suites Paradise Island, day passes can be purchased, based upon availability. Cost of passes varies depending on the season, ranging from $166 – $135 per adult, and $103-$93 per child.
While full complimentary access to the Atlantis and Aquaventure are included as a Comfort Suites Bahamas guest, there are additional room taxes and resort fees tacked on to your room rate. Here’s the “fine print” on those charges:
The following tax and charges are applicable. 12 Value Added Tax, 11.2 Resort Levy, 5.00 USD per person per day Housekeeping charge, 17.87 USD per person per day Utility Surcharge and 8.96 USD Hotel Service Charge per person per day. 40.00 USD added to the rate for 3rd and 4th adult, plus Valued Added Tax. Children 16 years and over are charged as adults. Children 12 years to 15 years are charges 31.83 USD per child per day (Housekeeping, Utility Surcharge, and Hotel Service Charge), not included in the total.
Bottom line?
Choice Hotels offers an amazing room rate for their junior suites. Although there are additional fees when you add it up, your budget for your family vacation is still looking good at the Comfort Suites Paradise Island.
4. Onsite Pool at the Comfort Suites Nassau
One of my must-haves when traveling with my grandkids is an onsite hotel pool. Even with the Atlantis Resort and the Aquaventure water park nearby, the best wind-down and cool off is a dip in the outdoor pool.
In fact, that’s where all the families usually gathered at the end of the day, and the kids all swam together. My grandson met new friends, and it allowed me a little Grammie-relaxing-time, especially as there was a lifeguard on duty. Yet even when the hotel was at full capacity, the pool was never crowded.
Lounge chairs, tables with and without umbrellas, and chairs surround the pool. Covered seating is available inside at the Crusoe’s Garden Restaurant next to the pool bar. There is also a swim-up bar, and the entire wait staff and bartenders are so friendly and kind to the kids.
SheBuysTravel Tip: While we were there (and I’m told quite often), complimentary manager drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are served to guests on the pool deck. Posters with details are located in the lobby.
5. Onsite Dining Options and Free Breakfast
Add the cost of breakfast to any family vacation budget, and your expenses just jumped. Not at the Comfort Suites Paradise Island!
Included in your stay is a hot American buffet breakfast including French toast strips, waffles, fresh fruit, toast, bagels, bacon or sausage, cereal, juice, and coffee. However, be aware that the hotel is very strict about removing food from the breakfast buffet area. All food must be eaten at the restaurant, and families are not allowed to send someone down for breakfast for the entire family.
The on-site kid-friendly and convenient Crusoe’s Restaurant (air-conditioning seating or near the pool bar) offers affordable entrees for both lunch and dinner. Menu items range from burgers to wraps, and signature entrees including local seafood, as well as a decent wine list.
SheBuysTravel Tip: Too exhausted to make it to dinner after a day at The Atlantis? The onsite restaurant offers takeout pizza. Order and eat in your room instead.
6. Save Money at Nearby Restaurants and Shops
Directly across the street from the Comfort Suites Paradise Island is the Paradise Shopping Village. Families can save money by stocking their mini-fridge with food purchased at its mini-mart or a bottle of wine chilling for when the kids fall asleep.
Less than 5-minute walk from the hotel is the Marina Village offering multiple restaurant options including my grandson’s favorite, Frankie Gone Bananas. Great food and exceptionally fun wait staff.
After dining at Frankie’s, we also enjoyed shopping at Marina Village and our visit coincided with the Marina Village Junkapoo parade.

Taxes and Fees
I mentioned this above with details, but it bears repeating. Room taxes are 18% and other surcharges. Children 12-15 years are charged $31.83 USD per child, and 16 and over $40 USD per person. Read the fine print, and only you can decide if the additional fees are worth the full access to The Atlantis.
Limit of Four Per Room at the Comfort Suites Bahamas
Again, the hotel is strict on this, and honestly, more than four people in their suites, even when family members, will be crowded. Larger families can ask for adjoining rooms, and since these are limited, book well in advance.
Check-In Time is 3 p.m.
Rarely will your room be ready before 3 p.m. Accept it, and smile. Pack your beach clothes in a carry-on bag and store your luggage for free. Then go forth and enjoy the hotel pool or The Atlantis; you’re on vacation.
Free Parking
Comfort Suites guests also receive free parking.
Walking Distance to The Atlantis
Let’s be honest. Yes, you can walk there from the Comfort Suites Bahamas. But it is a long winding and confusing walk, across the street from Marina Village. At check-in, the front desk staff gives directions are to Comfort Suites guests on where to pick up your wristband at Atlantis. The wristband is the golden ticket to free access to anywhere you want to go in massive Atlantis resort area, but be prepared to walk a lot.

Unfortunately this is not the case anymore 🙁 We are cruising in October 2020 and was so excited about this forum that I immediately booked a night there for our Nassau day! I booked a one night stay for $189.55+ $119.03 tax + fees = ~$308.58. It would have saved us about $400 for our family of 4 vs booking our Aquaventure through Disney!!! (Current price is $204/adult + $146/kid =$700)
However, on my hotel booking confirmation page, here was a notice in bold letters:
Hotel Alerts
Effective immediately. Same day one night bookings will not have access to Atlantis amenities. Advanced booking is required.
Food and beverage options at this hotel may be limited or unavailable at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Starting 11/15/2019 new fees will be apply. The following tax and charges are applicable. 12 Value Added Tax, 11.2 Resort Levy, 5.00 USD per person per day Housekeeping charge, 17.87 USD per person per day Utility Surcharge and 14.56 USD Hotel Service Charge per person per day. 40.00 USD added to the rate for 3rd and 4th adult, plus Valued Added Tax. Children 16 years and over are charged as adults. Children 12 years to 15 years are charges 37.43 USD per child per day (Housekeeping, Utility Surcharge and Hotel Service Charge), not included in total. Restaurant open for lunch and dinner. Free complimentary parking 24 hours.
I am crushed!! I am now looking at booking through a 3rd party called Resort for the Day. Has anyone used them?? I’m nervous booking through a middle man. Their price right now for the low season is $156/adult + $102/child = $518…it still saves us a little under $200 but I’m looking for a bigger discount for Atlantis day passes if I can find it!!
Rachel Redmond says
Hi Kendra
I’m curious how you got on? Where you able to book through the third party? Did the hotel give you access to the waterpark? I’m thinking of booking a day visit to the water park for my sisters family while they do a cruise.

All it says it you have to book ahead, not same day that you are going.

Thank you so much for this review! We are taking our son for his 10th birthday and this will be perfect! May I ask what is the price range of a meal at The Atlantis water park?
Diana Rowe says
Hi there! Thank you for your comment. My 12 y.o. grandson had an awesome time and couldn’t stop smiling. I can’t recall the exact pricing, just remember thinking it was expensive. Seems to me an adult hamburger meal at one of the poolside casual restaurants was $20 or so. The adult beverages are definitely expensive as well. Thanks again and enjoy your vacation! ~ Diana

Hi, Great review. Do you have access to activities at Atlantis too? We are going during Easter and there are a lot of registered kids activities. I was wondering if you stay at Comfort Suites can you register?
Jess says
Is there additional charges if you wanted to do the experiences such as feeding the stingrays? This is close to 40 mins… I can not imagine there us no additional charges?
jeremy says
Do they require any kind of ID for the breakfast? My family of 6 will be staying in Paradise Island and 2 will be staying at the Atlantis because we get a free room due to our hotel status there. but since the room limit there is 4 we also are booking a room at the Comfort Suites for the other 4 of us. At breakfast I wondered if all 6 of us could meet up and all the kids eat or if it was controlled access. I know some hotels give you a bracelet to wear to show you have access to the breakfast… Just wondering if I need to plan for the other 2 to eat somewhere else… Thank you, great review!

This article was very helpful! Was it difficult to book this hotel? As of right now, I am not able to book this hotel due to no availability all the way into May 2018. Thanks for your help in advance!

We stayed at this hotel and it was terrific! All the amenities of the Atlantis for half the price. And the walk to the Atlantis is quite short. And free breakfast next to a hotel that charges $50 a meal! Thanks for the reminder of a great family adventure.
