My jaw dropped when I walked into the grand lobby of the Davenport Hotel. I stepped back in time to a place with towering ceilings and intricate woodwork, huge crystal chandeliers and plush seating. I had the urge to throw on a flapper dress and dance the Charleston with my favorite gals. When beaches, cruises or Vegas are “been there, done that” for your squad, try something new with a stay at this elegant hotel perfect for an upscale girls getaway.
Highlights
- Luxury Spa – Sip champagne with your girls while waiting for your treatments, access to indoor pool and hot tub
- Instagram Worthy – Share your trip on social media with photo hotspots throughout the hotel
- Two Onsite Lounges – Enjoy craft cocktails in fun locations
- Walkable Downtown – Try the urban wine trail, a fun girls trip activity
- Afternoon Tea – Bring your favorite hat
SheBuysTravel Tip: Should I stay at the Davenport Hotel or Tower is an often asked question. I’ve stayed at both hotels and the two are stunning. I prefer the hotel because I love a luxury historic hotel. The tower also makes a good location for a girls trip and has a fun safari vibe which feels more modern. Both are downtown and within walking distance to each other.
I was hosted as part of a press trip.
The History of the Davenport Hotel

Every U.S. president between 1914 and 1985 visited the Davenport Hotel. I don’t think of Spokane at that time as being a hot spot to visit but based on its well known visitors it must have been. Hollywood royalty Mary Pickford, Clark Gable, Bing Crosby, and even Elvis Presley have stayed here. Other notables include aviators Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart. I find the history of the hotel and the significance to Spokane’s social scene over the years fascinating. If you are a history buff like me, read more here.

Elegant Dining

Nothing quite matches the experience of dining at the Palm Court Grill. A classic menu delights with iconic items such as the Crab Louie Salad which has been served at the hotel since 1914.
Long absent from the hotel, Afternoon Tea finally found a home on the menu. What a stunning venue to enjoy this special splurge. Looking around the room you’ll find mothers and daughters, ladies who lunch, and gal pals decked out in their finest hats sipping tea and nibbling on cucumber sandwiches. Period music just adds to the vibe.
Must Try

Retreat to the Spa

I felt like I had walked into a Roman Bath when I entered the Davenport Spa. Arches and pillars create the look. Make sure to arrive 30 minutes early to enjoy the aromatherapy steam room or sip a mimosa in the relaxation room. You know what I chose. The Davenport Signature Facial left my skin hydrated and cut all the redness I was experiencing through Hungarian facial massage and luxurious skincare products.
SheBuysTravel Tip: The swimming pool and hot tub are not in the spa but are easy to access if you want additional amenities. Just outside the spa so no need to change.
Shopping

After an extensive renovation, the Emporium opened to delight guests with its charming coffee bar and retail shop. Coffee and shopping, what a great combo. Explore the shop’s curated collection of locally sourced products, Davenport signature items, and other items perfect for souvenirs and gifts. Make sure to try the Davenport’s Signature Peanut Brittle which has a unique soft texture.
