The InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa blends the polish of a world-class beachfront resort while honoring Fijian culture and spirit. It is about a 50-minute drive from Nadi International Airport and covers 35 acres that overlook beautiful Natadola Beach. I was genuinely excited to be invited to Fiji. I’ve traveled extensively to all kinds of resorts, but this was my first visit here and I was curious to see how two very different IHG properties expressed their connection to local culture and landscape.

Shuttles run regularly, making it easy to get to the pools, beach or spa. There are three pools to choose from, multiple dining options, an 18-hole golf course and loads of water activities.

Sustainability and Local Connection

The InterContinental intentionally keeps a strong link to its environment and community, and it shows.

On-site marine biologists lead coral reef restoration programs that guests can join, creating a meaningful connection to the reef that sustains Fiji. I’m not snorkeling down 10 feet [yet!], but I loved being part of the effort by tying coral to the ropes that are planted on the reef.
During Fiji Day, the resort came alive with hat making, kava tasting, and coconut husking demonstrations.
Local artisans display their crafts daily, and women from nearby villages make the nightly chocolate gifts provided at turn-down service.
A thriving apiary and bee program, Bee-Happy, run by a local apiarist trained at the University of the South Pacific, produces honey used throughout the resort — from breakfast spreads to spa oils. Kids welcome.
Snorkeling and paddleboarding in Natadola Bay are among the resort’s most popular activities, offering an easy way to experience the coastline.
Yoga sessions are available for guests who want a slower, more restorative start to the day.
Planet Trekkers, Intercontinental’s kids’ club, keeps younger travelers engaged with supervised activities. I popped in more than once and saw happy, engaged kids and attentive staff.

SheBuysTravel Tip: The honey collected at Intercon’s apiary is used throughout the resort. My spa massage included honey-infused oils and my apiary activity included several honey-based snacks.

One detail that adds meaning to a stay here: both the InterContinental and its sister property, the Grand Pacific Hotel, are owned by the Fiji National Provident Fund. Their success directly supports retirement and social programs for Fijians. Everyone, in a sense, has a stake in how well these hotels do.

Food & Dining

Meals at the InterContinental are fresh, global, and flexible. The chefs are accommodating whether you’re vegetarian, gluten-free, or just particular about ingredients (like me). Breakfast is included in many room packages and served buffet-style at Sanasana Restaurant, with à la carte options available.

Toba Grill serves relaxed, poolside dishes with big flavors. I returned often and never tired of the menu.

Navo offers refined, seafood-forward menus and elevated service.
Sanasana, the main restaurant, hosts a gigantic breakfast buffet with made-to-order omelets, local curries, grilled fish, fresh fruit, salads, breads and pastries.
Kama Lounge: Cocktails, amazing live music nightly. The musicians are top-notch.
Vatu Lo Bar & Restaurant: Sandwiches, burgers, fries, Fiji beer.
Lai Lai Cafe: Delicious single-serving desserts that are worth waiting in line for and coffee.
Vuvale Kaanavata Cabana Dining: Gorgeous, delicious meal in a cabana on the beach.

What to Order

At Toba, try the Khow Suey, a Burmese soup with cashew nuts, lime, and coriander with a side of cassava fries. I LOVED this!
At Navo, the masala-crusted salmon is a standout.
At Vatu Lo Bar & Restaurant at the Golf Club don’t miss the Fijian curry (the chef works very hard on his curry! And his kati roll is delish )

Dining Dress Code at InterContinental Fiji: Most guests embrace “island chic” or upscale tropical casual. Think sundresses, linen shirts, and sandals. You won’t need formalwear, but you’ll notice that people dress up a bit for dinner. Beautiful settings deserve beautiful outfits!

While the resort isn’t all-inclusive, meal plans and dining packages are available.

Rooms & Comfort

The suites are spacious and thoughtfully designed, with plenty of storage and seating. Bathrooms are oversized, easily accommodating two people getting ready at once and my room included an outdoor soaking tub and chaises that I loved.

Garden view rooms offer extra privacy and a tranquil patio lounge area.
Rooms near the pool are convenient, but you may hear more activity during the day.
Connecting lagoon and garden view rooms are available, although limited. Request when booking.

Club InterContinental sits on its own hilltop, separate from the busier parts of the resort, with a private pool, butler service, and daily high tea and evening cocktails. Whimsical, chimney-shaped cabanas frame the infinity pool, creating unexpected little hideaways that feel cozy and fun. And the high tea is delicious. There were plenty of finger sandwiches, scones and pastries to accompany the tea.

It’s all real.” Memorable Adventures A 2022 tour Kim guided to Bhutan was a particularly standout experience. “Bhutan sounds so exotic, of course,” she said. “But the part where my heart just glows and warms is thinking of the people we met – amazing women doing amazing things in Bhutan.” Their ranks included a former police officer whose ventures into food science helped mitigate food insecurity for residents of Bhutan’s highlands. Top Tips Planning for travel can be daunting, Kim acknowledges. “I always say: Go anyway. No trip is going to be perfect. There’s always going to be something you didn’t expect, something that doesn’t go the way you pictured or planned it. And that something is what’s going to make it a great trip.” And on a practical note: “Go early! Getting to the airport or hitting the road just an hour earlier relieves so much stress.” Kim’s Background Kim, a graduate of the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management, holds degrees in finance and entrepreneurship and has deep experience in developing and running businesses. Her previous work includes developing and running communications workshops and overseeing document management for corporations. SheBuysTravel hits a sweet spot where Kim’s two loves of travel and entrepreneurship meet. “The longer I work in this field, I only want to do more,” she says. “I find the travel world so exciting – not just the trips, but the whole online world of travel.
