Conference trips to Las Vegas can be hit or miss, especially as a female traveling solo. I want things to feel easy, safe, and convenient after long days. The MGM Grand Las Vegas, with its newly renovated rooms, proved to be a smart, comfortable home base. The rooms are generously sized, elevator access requires a room key, and once you’re inside the resort, everything is right there under one roof: restaurants, Starbucks, and major entertainment.

Highlights:

  • Mobile check-in, so you can skip the front desk

  • Starbucks in the lobby

  • Daily room cleaning

  • Central access to restaurants, shows, and nightlife

  • Free Aria Express shuttle to other MGM hotels

  • A very comfortable, spacious home base

Renovated Rooms With Space to Breathe

Almost 4000 guest rooms were recently renovated, and they’re notably large, modern and comfortable. My king room was in the Main Tower and it was my sanctuary after a long day of meetings. I loved having plenty of room to unpack and a large bathroom to spread out my toiletries. The bed was genuinely comfortable and despite the subtle disco-inspired decor, the room felt calm and quiet.

The Free Tram stop at the MGM Grand: Aria Express

MGM Grand sits on the south end of the Strip, while Caesars Forum is farther north. The tram doesn’t go to Caesars Forum, but it does remove a big chunk of Strip walking and traffic from your commute. I had 3 options for getting to Caesar’s Forum:

  1. Take the free MGM shuttle and connect to the monorail (20 minutes) ROUTE : MGM Grand → Aria Express Tram → Bellagio → Bally’s/Horseshoe Monorail → Harrah’s & The LINQ → Caesars Forum

  2. Walk (about 30 minutes)

  3. Rideshare

Restaurants, Shows, and Essentials

One of MGM Grand’s strongest advantages is what surrounds it. This made the stay feel flexible and livable, not just convenient for sleep.

Within a short walk, we found:

  • A wide range of restaurants and shows
  • A nearby Target and Walgreens for snacks, toiletries, or forgotten essentials
  • Easy access to other Strip resorts without committing to long treks

We saw KA on site, because it’s Cirque Du Soleil and most of all, it required zero extra planning, no driving, no long walk after the show. Other resident entertainment options include David Copperfield, Jabbawockeez, and comedians at Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club.

It’s worth noting that the Aria Express conveniently connects MGM guests to more entertainment options at other MGM hotels: Bellagio, Park MGM and the Aria.

Who MGM Grand Is Best For

MGM Grand makes sense for:

  • Women travelers who value comfort, space and safety
  • Work trips where reliable transit beats walkability
  • Girlfriend getaways or mother-daughter trips that want shows, dining, and convenience in one place
