Floral Showhouse & Butterfly Conservatory
For a serene break from the busier attractions, we strolled through the lush, colorful displays at the Floral Showhouse. The current exhibit, “Whimsical Creatures,” features an array of animals crafted from flowers in a captivating display. This quiet oasis offers a peaceful retreat in the heart of nature.

At the Butterfly Conservatory, we were captivated by thousands of vibrant butterflies fluttering freely around us. During our visit, we were fortunate to attend a Monarch tagging and release event, which added a special touch to the enchanting experience. It’s a magical moment for kids—and grown-ups alike!

Niagara Underground: Power Station & Tunnel Under Falls Tour
A visit to the Niagara Parks Power Station offers a captivating journey through history. Opened in 1905, this remarkable site played a crucial role in transforming the power of the Niagara River into electricity, supplying much of Eastern Canada and the U.S. The building’s grand architecture was deliberately designed to instill confidence in the public, a testament to the bold vision of its creators. In fact, they were so confident in the potential of hydroelectric power that the station was built before the technology to fully harness it was even ready.
The experience is further enhanced by the recently opened tunnel, which allows visitors to walk through the very passageways that once channeled water for power generation. The journey culminates in a dramatic view of the falls from a lower platform, where you can feel the sheer power of the cascading waters. This unique attraction combines groundbreaking engineering with the awe-inspiring natural beauty of Niagara Falls, offering a deeper appreciation for the region’s rich history and its pivotal role in modern energy development.

SheBuysTravel Tip: The Niagara Falls Adventure Pass gives you access to top attractions while saving you money! It also includes unlimited rides on WEGO and the Falls Incline Railway, plus a round-trip shuttle to Niagara-on-the-Lake for added convenience.

Thrilling Adventures with a View
To fully experience the power and beauty of Niagara Falls, explore it from several exciting perspectives. We started with a Niagara City Cruise, taking us right into the mist of Horseshoe Falls. While ponchos are essential, nothing compares to feeling the raw power of the falls up close.

For a unique vantage point, Journey Behind the Falls leads you deep into tunnels carved from rock, where you can stand just feet away from the roaring waters. On the observation deck at the base of the falls, you can hear and feel the immense force of Niagara.

For a bird’s-eye view, the Whirlpool Aero Car offers sweeping vistas high above the Niagara Gorge, with stunning views of the swirling rapids below. If you prefer something more serene, the White Water Walk provides a peaceful hike alongside some of the world’s most powerful rapids. This boardwalk trail beautifully contrasts with the more adrenaline-pumping activities, offering a relaxed way to appreciate the water’s sheer power.

To elevate your trip, consider a ride with Niagara Helicopters. The aerial view of the falls and surrounding landscapes is an unforgettable way to take in the region’s beauty from above.

World-Class Wineries in Niagara
Niagara’s climate, with warm summers and cool lake breezes, creates perfect conditions for producing exceptional wines. The region is a must-visit for wine lovers, offering a wide range of varietals, including Gamay Noir, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Riesling. During our visit, we had the pleasure of tasting some of Niagara’s finest wines. Two Sisters Vineyard wowed us with its grand estate and robust, full-bodied wines.

Ravine Vineyard Estate captivated us with its organic practices and cozy, rustic charm. At Reif Estate Winery, one of the region’s oldest, we experienced the rich tradition of winemaking, known especially for its award-winning ice wine.

Lastly, 13th Street Winery delighted us with a perfect blend of wine, art, and food, featuring outdoor sculptures and an onsite bakery that made the visit even more memorable. Whether you’re a casual sipper or a true connoisseur, Niagara’s wineries offer something remarkable in every glass.

Culinary Delights of Niagara
Niagara Falls is known for its fresh, locally sourced food—from cheese to vegetables and fruit, it’s a farm-to-table paradise.

Lunch at Table Rock House, overlooking Horseshoe Falls, paired stunning views with a menu rooted in local ingredients, making for a truly memorable experience. Dinner at Ravine Vineyard Estate Winery followed, where vineyard-to-table dishes and exceptional local wines offered a cozy, flavorful evening.

At AG Inspired Cuisine, we toured the farm earlier with Chef Cory Linkson, seeing firsthand where the garden produce is grown.

That evening, we dined on those same ingredients, with standout dishes like Blistered Shishito peppers and Juniper Venison with patty pan squash. Trius Winery, newly recognized by the Michelin Guide, wowed us with perfectly seared scallops and Fogo Island shrimp, while Flour Mill Scratch Kitchen capped off the day with its focus on scratch-made, locally sourced fare.

Things I Didn’t Do (But Will Next Time)
Zipline Niagara Falls: For a thrilling experience and breathtaking views, WildPlay Niagara’s zipline takes you from the top of the gorge to the base of Horseshoe Falls. It’s a high-adrenaline adventure that’s on my list for next time.

Skylon Tower: Offering panoramic views from 775 feet above, the Skylon Tower is perfect for a dry, elevated perspective of the falls. I plan to visit the observation deck and enjoy a meal at the revolving restaurant during my next trip.

Niagara SkyWheel: This large observation wheel on Clifton Hill provides year-round views of Niagara Falls. With enclosed gondolas for comfort, it’s a great way to see the illuminated falls at night, and it’s on my must-do list for next time.

When to Go
Niagara Falls offers something special year-round, but Spring, Summer, and Fall are the best. Spring features mild temperatures and blooming gardens. Summer is warm and lively, ideal for outdoor activities. Fall brings cooler temps and stunning foliage. Each season provides a unique experience.

Niagara Falls is more than its breathtaking waterfalls; it’s a destination filled with diverse experiences. As day turns to night, the Niagara Nightly Illumination lights up the falls in a dazzling display of colors. Fortunately, we ended our visit with a spectacular fireworks show, making for a perfect finale. With its blend of adventure, serenity, and spectacular views, Niagara Falls offers an experience far beyond the iconic falls.
