For whale watching, beach walking, and tequila tasting in the beautiful Mexican region of Los Cabos, look no further than Sandos Finisterra. This all-inclusive Cabo San Lucas resort is built into a hillside with stunning views on all sides, from the bay to the ocean.
We’ve Been There: Sandos Finisterra All Inclusive
I was already a fan of the Sandos brand, having previously been delighted by Sandos Playacar and Sandos Caracol in Playa del Carmen and the nearby Sandos Cancun. So I was eager to visit the one remaining Sandos property in Mexico, Sandos Finisterra, in a location I love, Baja California Sur.
Like at the other properties, the Sandos Finisterra team is extremely friendly. They learn your name and you learn theirs. You’ll even be introduced to the general manager, Nicki, and the rest of the management team as they dance onstage at the weekly White Party on the beach.
There is lots to do at Sandos Finisterra, and plenty to walk to if you’d like to explore Cabo San Lucas. My favorite experiences were whale watching from my balcony and getting a massage treatment at the resort’s exceptional spa.
SheBuysTravel verdict: Sandos Finisterra Los Cabos all-inclusive is ideal for a couple’s getaway or girls’ trip. While the resort is family-friendly, with a complimentary kids’ club and kid’s menus at restaurants, there may not be many other kids on the resort. We only saw two children during our mid-week stay in March.
About Cabo Finisterra
While there are plenty of ways to relax at Cabo Finisterra, you’ll never be bored. Stop by the fitness center for a complimentary yoga or pilates class. Meet at 10 a.m. daily for a short walk to a local beach where it’s safe to swim. In the afternoon, head to the pool area for water aerobics or a mixology, painting, or dance class. Then stay for an ice cream party or foam party.
In the evening, take a walk on the beach before grabbing a cocktail at Whale Watchers Bar. Have dinner — no reservations are required — then catch the evening show. If you’re a night owl, the fun continues into the night at the Stones Club.

Sandos Finisterra Suites
There are 272 intimate rooms at Sandos Finisterra, most of which have views of the marina or the ocean. All rooms have air conditioning, free wifi, a minifridge full of soda and beer, around-the-clock room service, and a purified water dispenser for refilling water bottles.
Suite categories include:
- Deluxe bay view. These suites face the Cabo San Lucas Bay.
- Deluxe casitas with bay view. Casitas facing the marina are closer to the tennis courts at the bottom of the hill. This is a good place to stay if you want to be on the town side of the resort.
- Junior suite with ocean view. Junior suites are close to the pools, activities, and the beach.
- Finisterra junior suite and one-bedroom suites. These are located at the top of a cliff and come with access to a VIP pool with waiter service. You are farther from the beach but closer to the restaurants. If you’re looking for a quieter stay, it’s nice to be up this high. The views are great here, too.
Restaurants at Sandos Finisterra Los Cabos
Sandos Finisterra has five bars, five restaurants, and an all-day cafe. Here are some favorites.
Agave Restaurant: Dine al fresco by the pool for lunch. Come back for dinner when the open-air restaurant becomes a steakhouse.
Pizzeria and Sushi: This is an easy spot to get a quick meal to eat by the pool.
Plaza Finisterra: Grab a drink on the plaza overlooking Cabo San Lucas.
Tortuga Beach: This beachfront restaurant is steps from the beach. It’s open for dinner (and lunch for Royal Elite members).
Whale Watchers Bar: Located at the top of the cliffside resort, this is the best place to have a margarita while watching the sunset.
You can also get room service at any time. Order from the breakfast menu from 6:30 to 11:30 a.m. or the daytime menu from 11:30 a.m. to 6 a.m.
Pools at Sandos Finisterra Los Cabos
There are four swimming pools at Sandos Finisterra. One is adults-only with a swim-up bar and another is reserved for guests staying in the Finisterra Section. For access to the most pools on the property, book a Finisterra suite for your stay.
The pools are not heated, so I found them to be a bit chilly in March. But it was still nice to be able to hop in and cool off in between outdoor activities.
Spa del Mar
The spa at Sandos Finisterra is an absolute delight. Cliff walls jut into the dimly lit facility creating an ambiance similar to a calming cave. Walk along a candlelit path to your treatment room.
Afterward, stay for a thermal experience in the steam room, sauna, cold plunge, and jacuzzi. Ask if you can book a private experience after your treatment in the hot tub on the roof.
Things To Do in Cabo San Lucas
- Hike up a mountain with dogs. Sunday to Friday at 8 a.m., join local dog trainer Enrique Morales on a hike up Mt. Solmar for the best views of Cabo San Lucas. Anyone can join him for free and he’ll tell you about the history of the area while you hike, in both English and Spanish. Meet Enrique at his dog training facility across the street from the naval base. Call 624-122-1316 for more information. He gratefully accepts tips.
- Visit a beach without vendors. If you’ve been to Cabo, you may know the tourist beaches can be full of people trying to sell you things. Walk instead to Playa El Corsario, the local beach by the marina. The locals keep it clean and you can rent an umbrella for 300 pesos. It’s a nice, quiet place to swim, though it does get more crowded around lunchtime. Buy drinks before you go and bring your own snorkel gear.
- Boat excursion. Arrange a sunset cruise or whale-watching tour through Seek and Go in the resort lobby. Tours leave from the marina, which is within walking distance of the hotel.
